  2. thank you both for your help. the steam driven Compaq Presario from last century I am using now is normally my 'print server' for my Alps printer I am using to print decals. if my scanner wouldn't work with windows 7 or 8.1 I will just connect it to this old system. found an old copy of my XP professional CD (must have had a brain fart once and made a copy - lucky me) now where is that driver CD for the mother board :an!gry
  3. my computer 'ingredients' are not that old and will cope with win 7, I was just still using windows XP professional (OEM version as well - I sold them back in the old world) because I am lazy and because of all the soft ware I still have and use and because it is (or was) a very stable and reliable operating system. where can I buy an Win 7 OEM DVD ? I was looking for that option but all I've found were keys and soft ware updates via email. (answer by PM or email if preferred, thank you)
  4. thank you all for your constructive answers. I know I have to update to windows 7 or 8.1 soon but to legally do that without paying way too much for a full license I need to install my xp professional first or am I wrong ? yup, serial numbers do only work with certain versions that's why I was specific about the version I need. right now I am working with a steam powered Compaq Presario from the last century with a Celeron processor, very slow :phb: would it be better if I ask for a windows 7 DVD then ? anyone ?
  5. my hard drive crashed the other day so I bought a new hard drive to install a new system. the drive arrived today and I started with the installation but now I figured out that the windows XP professional CD has a scratch and it aborts the installation half way thru. now I am looking for a windows XP professional SP2 CD. could someone lend me their installation CD ? once the system is running I should be able to register it with my CD and my product key / serial number again. thank you
  6. didn't know what you were talking about here - downloaded the movie and I have to agree... :rolfl:
  7. F A R G O saw some ads on sky and downloaded it, watched the first 4 episodes so far and did download the movie from 1996 as well which I was not aware of. man did I enjoy that movie and the first four episodes.

  10. yup, caught them for many years up there, found them even down here on the south island
  11. there's one in Naseby 4 free, just pick it up
  12. are you sure it's a Cunninghams and not an Otago ?
  13. they reach sexual maturity after one to two years and can get 20 years old and older. if DOC does not get rid of them soon they will become native
  14. I forgot to mention they are nocturnal, while the larvae in the water can easy be picked by frogs and birds the adult ones hide in the mud on the ground if any danger occurs. on land they are well hidden during the day. I am not sure if rats, weasels and ferrets actually eat them, in Europe these are not the predators of these newts. Trouts, Ringelnatter (Natrix natrix), Wasserspitzmaus (Neomys fodiens) and some birds are the natural predators (and all the cars who run them over in spring time when they swarm and cross the roads on the way to the water holes and ponds.) if DOC does a good job they got rid of these rodents anyway.
  15. a healthy female can lay up to 250 eggs in a season. after four to five months they go thru the metamorphosis and leave the water. adult ones are only in the water for the mating season. they are not easy to find when they are not in the water. they change colors to a darkish gray, very good camouflage to live a very hidden life, even the orange belly is way less bright. if someone did release a breeding pair or lots of larvae a couple of years ago there could be hundreds out there already. they don't have many predators out there. trouts love them but if there are no trouts where they breed up there, nothing will stop them.
  16. if you go with a cheap plastic bin make sure it is a PP one
  17. - the first night I got home from hospital after I was born I got bitten by a mouse I was told. (don't remember that one) - when I was four I got bitten by a german (shepherd) - during my terrarium time back in Switzerland I got bitten by an Aesculap Snake (Zamenis longissimus) which gave me an infection. by a Helm Basilisk (Basiliscus basiliscus) which did turn parts of my index finger blue, green and black after a while and by a Schmuck Horn Frosch / Pacman frog (Ceratophrys) which got me on the side of my palm and didn't let go for a while, did hurt a lot but no scare or anything more serious. - just the other day one of my Axolotl was hanging on my index finger and tried to swallow it (it's like trying to pull your finger out in between of sandpaper), no harm done
  18. and every now and then on a clear full moon night I turn into a Ninja Rat :rolfl:
  19. a trout is only good on a dry fly or a nymph. I know they do harm to all the native fish but I would hate to miss flyfishing here in NZ.
  20. read the list to the end, page 3 :sage: you don't need a permit to keep them, like axolotl and leos
  21. can't decide, I'm guessing here, I'm going with Trevally ? (or is it a Hapuka ?)
