    hi from taupo.

Hi and welcome. There are a few keepers of natives here.
  2. Caryl

    The What's Up? thread.

No, he didn't break his ass, he broke his wrist.
  3. My tap water is around the 40 - 50ppm mark all the time.

    The What's Up? thread.

Spent 3 hours in A&E today after Grant fell down our back steps. He has 2 fractures and is now in plaster for 6 weeks. Has to see the orthopaedic surgeon before that to decide if it is healing straight, or if the plaster is tight enough (wrist is swollen at the moment). Right wrist too so not helpful as he is right handed.

    Fluval 405 leaking

Unless you have a rubber baby, you need not worry about the effect of Vaseline on your offspring

    Fluval 405 leaking

It is said not to use Vaseline but I always have and never had a problem
  8. I suggest you ask Greg to make you a receipt for what the tank would cost normal retail, just for your records, not what it actually cost. When our tank cracked and flooded the lounge, dining room, kitchen and had started creeping up the hall, AMI was very good to us. They would not cover the damage done, as it was not considered a "normal water supply" fault but did suggest we get the dearest quote possible to replace the tank then use the excess to help pay for lifting the carpet, drying it out, and re-laying. We have since changed our contents policy to make sure it includes aquarium breakage and damage caused by same.

    bloating :(

It could be bloat but not usually something a neon has problems with. It could be egg bound - possible if female. If this, wait and see what happens. It could be dropsy - the scales will be sticking out all over the body, not just the belly, like a pinecone. If this, destroy the fish Here is a danio with dropsy
  10. That fish is a man-a-tee
  11. Appreciate you posting it here too David. Looking good and can't wait to see it finished and filled.

    Hi

Hi and welcome. What areas do you travel to?
  14. The test to see if rocks were "safe" was in regard to whether they were inert or if they would raise the pH. All you do is pour a little vinegar on the rock. If it fizzed it would likely alter your pH. I used limestone in my Malawi tank and never noticed it raising the pH a major amount, although it did go up a little. My fish came from an experienced African breeder whose tap water was 7.0 so that is what he kept them in. He said he did not want to muck about with the pH and besides, his fish were captive bred and had no idea what pH they were supposed to be in.
  15. Please note this thread was split. To follow the oscar... viewtopic.php?f=13&t=63488&start=15
  16. Thank LA. He figured it out for me
  17. I was attempting to split things, as requested, but stuffed up. Please be patient while I figure out what went wrong and where the oscar posts went!
  18. It is Erythromycin, aka E-Mycin. It too will only work temporarily unless you find a fix the cause, usually an imbalance of nutrients.
  19. I saw the pics on Facebook on Turtle Rescue & Rehoming's page
  20. Have someone take lots of pics and write, briefly, about the day please for the AW!!!!!!!
  21. Aha, I now know what Caleb looks like as I saw the pics from the Expo. A great success by all accounts (the Expo I mean )
  22. We have the "vet in a van" who makes house calls. Most probably wouldn't want to pay the fee to have a vet visit to look at one small fish, especially as most vets seem to get little training in aquatic diseases.
  23. Hi Caleb. We have a few 14 year olds in here. Welcome.
