  1. I thought you might say "What brother?"
  2. So what happens if brother wants his room back?
  3. Rozski I have rotala and Anubias nana if you want some. Red plants need strong light to keep their red colouring.
  4. Prices can vary depending on whether or not the glazier has some glass the right size. It will be cheaper if they have some off cuts they can use but dearer if they have to cut up a new sheet.
  5. Good to hear you got the plants at last Slightly Blue Dalmation and sorry for the muck up. They will perk up after a few days too as they had been in the bag since Friday night so were probably a bit sad looking by the time you got them  bdspider, I won an OKI bag which will be ideal for holding the camera, extra flash unit plus all Grant's extra batteries, leads, chargers etc, essential for us whenever we travel. I didn't try the fishing. Didn't try any of those racing car games either! Didn't win any of the big prizes this year but had a great day anyway and brought home lots of freebies. Grant is seriously thinking about doing a deal with the Samsung guy for some wide screens to use as monitors and TVs. Dad picked up several of the nikau palms figuring he could sell them on his church stall  Oh yeah, we got quite a few caps to add to our collection  I also managed to get a big pile of the Kingston bags to use for delegate bags at next FNZAS conference. They had lots left over so I asked if we could have some and they were happy to hand over 2 huge packs of them. I think I have 100 bags. I also collected lots of the others to use when I go shopping instead of having my things packed into plastic bags. Sounds like all the fish and plants swapped over the weekend survived the journeys to their new homes.
  6. Welcome to the fishroom. You should join the Hawkes Bay Aquarium Society, then you will truly be a member of the FNZAS
  7. Shows those carbonated drinks aren't good for you!
  8. Discus will be in a nice planted tank. The cichlid tank will not have plants in it. Which do you prefer?
  9. If they are male guppies they will try and mate with anything
  10. The muck underneath is full of good bacteria. I love ugf for tanks 2ft or smaller. Easy and cheap and run well. I just siphon them as I would with any other substrate
  11. It was nice to meet Slightly Blue Dalmation, Milet and Dixon1990. Others there were Loopy, bdspider, wilson, scalare and me - plus some others I can't name or have forgotten  Glad Simon the shark made it OK and has rearranged his new home  All the fish survived the trip home again, including those Milet gave me Saturday night!. They had small water changes throughout the weekend and sat in a pot in front of the motel heater 8) Thanks to John at Organism too for holding fish and plants there for people to pick up and supplying me with a couple of heatpacks for the trip home. ALso thanks for the laugh regaling us with the story of wilson's mishap. I haven't laughed so hard for ages and it seems I am not the only one  Have you planted the nikau palm yet bdspider?
  12. If it is one spot that is growing and getting fluffy (which she said to me it was) then it isn't white spot. Never medicate your tank until you know what you are medicating it for!

It isn't my meeting so I can't tell you. I have only been to one Everyone talks about their fish and any problems they have with them and sometimes there is a talk on a specific subject. Last one I went to we were shown how to make our own cheap brine shrimp hatchers. They usually have a buy/sell/exchange too. Next meeting is actually their first AGM.
  14. White spot looks like the fish is sprinkled with salt. I can zip round tonight and have a quick look if you want. Did you get my email re the shark?
  15. I used to do 50% water changes on my Malawi tank with the garden hose. The temp dropped about 10C. The fish played in the current and loved it. Not sure about clown loaches though as they are sensitive to water conditions. Nothing wrong with mixing hot and cold water in a bucket.
  16. Correct Marko. Basically it is alcoholic chocolate sauce. They have other flavours too.
  17. Your kids are welcome too - as long as you hide the sandpaper first
  18. I can't find my secret stash and I am sure I replenished it recently. Hmmm, if I can find them I will bring some with me.
  19. Cover it totally. The fish won't mind.
  20. I think some people here will want to throttle you when you return gannet
  21. Someone gave us some Prenzels Tipsy Topping and one day I realised the level was dropping dramatically. A quick check and I discovered our young son had been pouring it on his Weetbix! Anyway... back to the scratches. Have you tried any of the suggested methods yet?
  22. Farm stores or vets ought to be able to supply you with long sleeved gloves. If they are strong enough to cope with being shoved up a bovine behind, they ought to be tough enough for work in your pond
  23. A couple on this site have been advertising them. You can also try sports shops as skiers put little heat pads in their pockets when out in the snow.
  24. Try removing as much as possible then doing a total blackout for 3 or 4 days. This will upset the plants a little but they will recover. If this fails, I can offer some erythromycin (a prescription only drug) that will kill it. Always best to try non med or chemical options first
