  1. You keep killing the good bacteria that live in the pads so the tank keeps re-cycling.
  2. I believe the parents may turn on the older lot when the next lot hatch (but haven't actually bred kribs myself so someone else may dispute that) like angels do.
  3. They will be more likely to charge you if you have 2 and one, or both, is still all nicely wrapped in the box and unused. Grant has found it depends on who you get as you come in as to whether they charge you or not. He brought back a lot of electronic stuff, had the receipts and all the paperwork but they just waved him through, even though he had several hundred dollars worth of stuff and well over the limit for not being charged.
  4. He means both fish may be female (and not male, or one female and one male) A female fish does not need a male if she wants to lay eggs, he is only needed to fertilise them.
  5. Wow, a reptilian porta pottie :sml1:
  6. I still have to sort and upload all the pics we took at Wonderworld, Rotorua, too 8) We sort of visited it when we accidentally passed :happy2:
  7. Kribs will spawn regularly and get very territorial when they do. The fry could be being eaten by any number of fish in the tank, including the parents. You can keep the parents and sell the fry (it is OK to move the fry - assuming you can catch them!) or keep the fry and still sell the parents . The problem will keep going on if you raise the fry as they too will breed :-?
  8. All good selections. My favourite was Winnie The Pooh - the original, not the Disneyfied one. You never see Little Toot any more either. He was one of the Golden Books series. My kids loved the Richard Scarry books and Where's Spot? I remember we had a Li'l Critter sticker book. You can never go past Hairy McLary or Dr Seuss  I remember, as a child, listening to stories on the radio on Sunday mornings. Hans Christian Andersen, Brothers Grimm and that lot. I loved the story of The Happy Prince.
  9. There were only so many pics of your thumbs I was willing to put in my album!

  11. Jane was the bestest treasurer we have had in all the years I have been editor. Her attention to detail and her ability to get things done at the right time made my job so much easier. Congratulations to all those elected. I hope you are prepared to work your little butts off!!
  12. I too am home safe and sound after an enjoyable weekend. I have a lot of photos which I will post ASAP. Have to wake up first.

Hi and welcome. Good to hear you are getting a larger tank as you will soon run into problems with the number and size you have there.
  14. Just got back from a tasty dinner at a local Chinese restaurant. !drool: I will upload pics when we get home. Trying to figure out how long to allow for bottlenecked traffic tomorrow when we hit Paraparaumu :-? A big thank you to the BFRC for organising their first conference. They did a wonderful job. Special thanks to Jim and Fiona Sytema for all their hard work
  15. We have spent a lovely afternoon at the beach watching some wading waist deep in the water catching critters. Nice to meet you Anthony. We are getting ready for dinner now !drool:
  16. Hi Jan and welcome to the fishroom
  17. We are all heading to Mark's new place tomorrow (he said something about needing to shift an 8ft tank) then wading about in rock pools (depending on weather). Dinner was lovely, as was dessert. Conversations after dinner were also fun, as was the auction.
  18. We had an interesting afternoon with a guest speaker from Masterpet giving us a PowerPoint presentation then Mark Paterson talked about collecting stuff for local marine tanks and what he has in plan for us tomorrow. We can only hope the weather improves as it has been cold, windy and wet all day. Good thing we have been inside nice and warm with plenty of lovely food offered throughout the day. There is even some birthday cake left! Now we are all resting, or shopping etc, until the evening meal.
  19. So what did you do to break so many bits? :-?
  20. As you can see some people are messaging from across the conference room!
  21. Kevin has won a UV steriliser and I have won a doggie pack for my granddog 8) Plenty of other raffles coming up. We have now stopped for a delicious lunch
