  1. aww I hope they were not cut off by the owner or something, don't think they will bite each others tails off, that just sounds sillly. You are doing such a great job with all these turtles, you are gonna have the most comfiest cloud to sit on in heaven looking over the biggest turtlepond you have ever seen
  2. I was very fortuanate to buy my tank and stand together for the price of the tank only because Animates have used it as a display tank for two weeks

    The What's Up? thread.

I had the most amazing day ever. We went to Opie to pick up my moss and then we went to do our weekly shopping and we went into this one place. I don't think I should mention where because I have not got permission from the owner. But anyways out of the corner of my eye I saw this fishtank so automatically I was drawn to it, asked if I could go and see it and was told yes sure. So in I walk, and I saw heaven !drool: five tanks in total, huge ones. One filled with zebras yes the white and black ones and I would say about 14 in there. then the other two tanks had atleast 50 chocolate zebras in it, there was such beautiful fish in all those tanks, Hubby had to drag me away. I wish I could share but obviously because of the expensive fish, I think I should keep it to myself, sorry guys :-?
  4. Thanks Ira, I was seriously worried about that
  5. We went walking about today and I saw a fluval co2 kitset there, its for a tank up to to 157 litres. There was also a smaller one as well. I have a blueplanet vista 160 litres and is considering to get it, but I need you guys to tell me whether or not its a good set for a beginner, I don't wanna kill my fish with over oxygen and stuff
  6. Update time  Got some Christmas moss from Opie. Thanks Opie :happy2:
  7. I just went to the dwarf puffers forum and did a search for apple snails. It came up that big ones are not good food and can even withstand the occasional nip from the puffers, but the little ones are great for them, so its actually a good snail to breed right in the tank with them. I can't do that with my ramshorn because even my biggest one is still small enough to be a snack  Here is the link if you wanna snoop around and get info http://dwarfpuffers.com/forum/index.php
  8. I am not sure, I feed my puffers ramshorn snails, they love them. Funny thing that I noticed is that if I put small ones in with bigger ones, they prefer the bigger ones to the small ones. They climb almost completely inside the shell once they killed the snails to try and get every bite out, so the big snails die first and they manage to empty them out so much that the shell floats to the top, where as with the smaller ramshorn snails they can't get everything out and I need to either squish them or remove them from the tank. Stay away from any unicornhorn like snails, they hurt their little teeth, not good for puffers. I should add that a big ramshorn is about the size of a 20c coin so that is still small but big for them cause they are so small. I will also add that I bought 30 ramshorns off someone on trademe and chucked them in my main tank where they are breeding and supplying food for my puffers, they are cute looking so it does not bother me to have them in my tank

There were pleanty of ladybugs when we went camping at Lake Karapiro the one year, they seemed to get attached to a person too LOL, I had one sit on me almost the whole day even if I got up and walked around it was so cool, and when we got home and unpacked the tent to give it a brush before putting it away two have hidgehiked home as well.
  10. I found this pic of Taniwha  I would realy love to have a nice big catfish like yesterdays episode in my backyard, it might have big teeth but its still cute as hell  Can you tell I am a catfish/pleco fan LOL

    My new plec

Its beautiful  I never see my chocolate zebras they hide away :nilly:
  12. I am not a reptile keeper so don't know how to do this. I think of you guys should get together and share info with eachother then your breeding will be more successful
  13. Some amazing updates A pitty about the leaches, those are irritating little things, hope you get rid of most of them. About the heater guards, I never knew about them as well until one of my chocoalte zebras burned himself by not leaving his spot behind the heater, then someone here at fnzas told me about them, both my tanks have them now, so handy I think even if a heater had to mailfunction and explode it would be better with the guard
  14. I thought you were younger too, from your facebook pics
  15. I shared the link on facebook, hopefully some of my family and friends will sign it
  16. Now that sucks. I am 173 and I weigh 96 and I am obese, now how does that add up :slfg:
  17. I use them and all my fish eat them, every single one :slfg: I stick it against the glass then the harlequins and rummynoses eat it, and once it falls to the ground the zebra loach and chocolate zebras eat it. They love it, it keeps forever as well even if you feed every night
  18. You are gonna be so happy afterwards, my only advice is to not go too small, let them decide what is best for you. I went from G to C and they suggested D or DD so that is why things got complicated HelenMac you can do it. if you want to you can pm me your email addy and I can forward you my diet. Its one that does not require exercise. I will look out for the air walker thingy
  19. awww  he is just too addorable, and your algae tank does not stand a chance against a bn, you are gonna have a sparkly clean tank and a super obese bn :slfg:
  20. Sunbird, my surgery ended up a bit complicated, I was in there for 5 and a half hours instead of three and they had to make choices without my knowledge, so my cuts are almost ten cm longer to each side as it should have been. I have to be extremely careful, but I will try your advice, as is I am biking on my exercise bike, it has hills on it as well, very tough hills  the obstacle I am on a similar diet, its called sureslim. Teeny little meals but filling and only every 5 hours three times a day. No snacking, not even fruit and no juice only water, two cups of coffee a day, but with no milk and no sugar. I started my diet two weeks ago and have lost about 4kg now. That is also how I lost it in the beginning, but it went quicker cause I did 2 hours exercise on my wii aswell, but this time round I can't. I feel for your wife, its as if we are permantly on diets, our whole life consists of chasing a smaller body
  21. Tracey my first weightloss was with the help of my wii fit which included yoga, but unfortuanatly I can't do that either, I had a complicated surgery instead of a plain old one, so my recovery is much longer and I can injure myself with any stretching of the arms, I don't even make the beds by throwing the duve into the air, I walk all around the bed to pull and tuck it :roey: I am however being a teensy bit naughty and riding on my exercise bike but just sitting up straight so I don't bend forward :slfg: I hope my surgeon is not a fishkeeper here Josh I love your above quote that is why, once I reach size 12 I will be happy, why go all the way down to an 8 just because the bmi says so. I am 1.73m and they want me to weigh 65 come on :an!gry I will go down to 75 that is on the borderline of overweight and healthy
  22. well I would not believe him if he told me the cause of his fish's death :slfg:
  23. aww critter_crazy sorry about your medication problem, perhaps your dr can put you on a different tablet that does the same thing but not let you gain weight Caryl I am being very good and thinking twice before eating something I should not. I want to achieve my goal, worked very hard for it and I know that I earn it Livebearer_breeder you gave us some super duper advice, thanks for that  2 Years ago I weighed just a little over 120 and was morbidly obese and size 24 pants. Then up until February this year I lost weight all the way down to 83kg and a size 12 pants where I was overweight according to bmi. Now I am all the way back up to 96kg and back into obese, atleast not morbidly obese and a size 16. Its so frustrating but its all my fault, I sat in bed for 2 months eating everything I should not have eaten because I felt sorry for myself being in pain  But I am on the right pathway now, and is glad to see others out there is also on the pathway with me :happy2:
  24. aww that is so sad Where did you buy them, perhaps you could take the dead fish and a sample of your water and they might replace them. I went back to a store I bought Mollies from and saw their molly tank in quarantine so they offered to replace my mollies once theirs were healthy, but ofcourse I declined and went elsewhere for fish. But perhaps theirs are ok and you can get more, and if theirs are sick as well then atleast you know its not your water causing it.
