    The What's Up? thread.

I spent the day getting my tank ready for my new fishies I am getting tomorrow :slfg:
  2. Thanks its very difficult to have their little eyes so clear in a photo, puffers move around and in almost 99% of my photo's they end up being a blur, but not this time, so I also have a better avatar to :slfg: A little off topic about them, for the last month the one puffer the slightly bigger one is showing a very nice line under his tummy and he looks like an old man with his wrinkles, where as the other one who is a tiny bit smaller and not as bright looking is showing no traces of a line or wrinkles :happy2: Here is a video I just took of my two eating a snail, this one is longer than the accidental one, enjoy
  3. That looks super great, Wow !drool:
  4. or bird poop on your roof, even yucky algae or something like that. We are on tankwater and its filtered twice, by the pump and by the tap  When I was on our roof to retrieve a toy plane well it did not look good
  5. I finally got a nice photo of my pufffers, well the one, the other one swam under the rocks as I took the pic Both can be seen hunting snails in the video, but it was an accidental video so its very short. I was meant to take a photo but it was set on recording, Enjoy anyways
  6. That would put my kiddies in bed at ten the night cause I live out in Beachlands. I suppose once a month is not that bad, will talk to the boss when he gets home from night shift
  7. Is 33 a Junior :slfg: and how long is meetings. I might not be able to attend all, because I have two kiddies and hubby sometimes works nightshift
  8. I had the tank lights on at night with all the lights in my house off and had the same effect, so perhaps Stella is right, I will do some research on my tank make LOL Stella it looks great but is a pain because it just looks unnatural and I want my tank to look stunning and its realy not looking anything near acceptable at the time. I will get there though, I am sure I will
  9. :rotf: if only it was that easy I can see my whole tank reflected again, it looks like I have a metre wide tank
  10. awww I remember spot. I used to get very upset with my younger brother cause he would tear off all the places where spot was hiding, you know the little flaps you used to lift to find him :an!gry
  11. How do you join and how much does it cost?
  12. You could get one of these for the air bubble problem http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/product/page/marina-air-pumps/m/1551/ For the heater problem, you could take blankets and throw them over your tank to keep it warm, with the temp dropping gradually they should be fine, look at all the christchurch fishies that survived for a while without electricity
  13. I have tried everysingle black type colour behind my tank now and I still get a mirror effect. I even draped a black fluffy blanket which is definetly not reflecting and I still got the mirror effect. What do you guys do to get rid of the mirror effect?
  14. Its very educational. My son wanted one, but now I can see that he will never be able to care for it as it should be cared for, so he will have to settle for something else. I found the same with beardies, everyone think they are so easy, that was his first choice, but when I went looking for infomation on how to care for them I realised that it would be way to difficult for him, the last thing I want is to be the one looking after his pets. That is how I ended up with two fishtanks, I originally looked after his mountain minnows my sister in law got him for his 8th birthday :slfg:
  15. My daughter is six going on seven and she loves these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hairy_Maclary
  16. I could be wrong, but I read somewhere that someone said you should take a wet towel and put it on the grass over night and then the next morning you will have lots of worms there
  17. we found a whole little family last year after we pruned all our fruit trees, they were hiding between all the cuttings that were there for a few days while we waited for the chipper guy. They were so cute, a perfect opportunity to quickly show my two kids. Then we let them scurry off to who knows where
  18. hahaha get yourself some poleroid sunglasses :slfg:
  19. I think going out to buy any pet you need to do your research. I do it everytime before buying a new fish and sometimes I find that I know more than the sales person and then I basically give them information. Donna your turtles are looking great, you are doing a fabulous job, some of the pics were realy upsetting :tears: but then the pics of their recovery is super happy ones :happy2:
  20. You and me both :slfg: My photo's are either blurry or has lines across them with big red bands

    The What's Up? thread.

I got up and immidately ran to my puffer tank and was very thankful to see both my little ottos still alive  Took the kids to school Walked to Hammer hardware and bought black polyphene sheeting and put it as my black background, time will tell whether I keep it :spop: Now I am playing Sims Medieval and then Sims Generations, eventually I will decide which one to play the whole time
  22. for $4.50 I bought some polyphene sheeting (something like that) I got 2m by 1m. It looks realy nice if you look with the naked eye, but if you take pics it does not look that good. Here is an egsample. the pic is with the camera of course and the video clip is how it looks with the naked eye I can't do the background like in the link you gave Hovmoller although that would look fantastic, I just have about 20cm space inbetween the tank and the wall. I might have to go with the card at a later stage, thanks all for the advice
  23. Managed to take an almost nice pic included a video very short just to see the school swimming
  24. My tank does not have much space from the wall, and is too heavy to shift but I would like to take my current wallpaper off and put a plain black one. My sister in law said you get those sticky plastic paper that you put in cuboards do you think those will work or can a person buy a plain black background, I can't really get in there to paint so it will have to be a paper one of some sorts. I actually thought of getting black card paper and laminating it, I did that with a little picture for my puffertank, but just not sure whether a 95cmX55cm paper is available to do it :dunno: Any advice from you guys
  25. Here is a video clip, I suck at taking photo's I need a new camera
