    The What's Up? thread.

I finally got round to putting my diy caves into the tank, have a look here to see how it came out http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=52959 I also sorted my puffertank with more hiding spaces and added two ottos, lets hope the little guys survive them vicious little puffers
  2. ok, so I put a hand full of snails in the tank and then once they were assasinating those I quickly added two of my ottos, I hope they will leave them alone and accept them in the tank :spop:
  3. Finally put the caves in my tank  Here is a photo I took, but its not that good, so I did a video clip as well
  4. I like Henward's best, his looks much more healthier than the contender's  edited to add Snap for the above post, we posted the same thing at the same time :slfg:
  5. My camera is old and needs replacing, I think it might be from kids dropping it that it does this, it also sometimes make a whole lot of lines across, will try and find an egsample of that as well. My camera is a Canon Powershot A75.
  6. I have no idea whether this will help or not, but how about keeping your water still for a while, no movement from filters and so on so that everything can settle and then starting the recycling process once everything is settles
  7. That is my problem, my non flash pictures look fanatstic colour wise but you can't make out anything because its so blurry, but with the flash I get this red line across (camera age) and its frustrating, cause it messes up a perfectly foccussed photo. I keep the camera close to the tank on an angle or far away and zoom in so I don't get the light spot caused by the reflection of the tank glass, just that damn red line
  8. If I saw that I would swim in and rescue it, I love plecos too much to sit and watch that :tears:
  9. agreed, I had to clean out their tank the one day, I had that slime coating problem and I put both of them in a fish bag floating them in my main tank, Gosh you should have seen them They were trying their best to attack my other fish through the bag, they were curling their tails and aiming at the fish, exactly like they hunt their snails in stealth mode  I picked them out, double bagged them and put them back in again. Quickly cleaned out their tank and placed them back in there, deciding right there that I woul never attempt to put them with any fish ever Ira they were so quick I could not even see their impressions, but afterwards they looked like cats that stuck their heads into an empty box wiggling their tails to get every last bit out of the shell, the one even swam with a snail on his head for a while, I thought I might have to rescue it :nilly: Artem I am too scared to try, many have failed even with ottos Hovmoller and paige.xo they would make me many bucks if I did hire them out to assasinate snails, only problem is they won't stop there, any fish would be taken out as well. collateral dammage
  10. Sophia I could not believe it. They just killed them, and then once all were dead started eating on some of them. How will I ever keep my puffer tank clean if they take out all the cleaners as I put them in. I might have to sneak them in, in the late of the night while they are snoozing under thier little bridge
  11. I bought a whole lot of red ramshorn snails today. Chucked 3/4 of them in the main tank and about 25 in the puffertank since I could see it was starting to get algae all over. It was not even a full five minutes then all 25 were dead. They were killed, now the puffers are taking their time to slurp them out of the shells. I was shocked, thought they would kill and eat one at a time, not such a masacre
  12. nice tank !drool: , Bio Chem Zorb will sort that tannis out for you in no time, its good stuff. http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/detail/view/api-bio-chem-zorb-large-283g/m/971/
  13. I will catch all the fish in my main tank, put them in quarantine tank, take my two puffers and let them feast LOL It took them less than three days to take out 8 snails :slfg:
  14. Here is an old photo when we made the front page of the Taupo times trying to save the Motorcamp, sadly it was demolished &c:ry
  15. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1653959755836.2096418.1442319554&l=36a2323a73 Not sure if it will work, but here is the rest of the dinosaurs we made, we made them in one week, last minute thing the scouts wanted :slfg:
  16. Only pic I could find of me, I am usually behind the camera. I was showing my family back in South Africa the dinosaur we made for the scouts land before time camp
  17. Thanks everyone  Yip, two more days to go for them to be completely cured, my six year old daughter decided to inspect them from closer so there is a spot where she took the gravel off, but its ok, will just sprinkle gravel over that part in the tank, if I silicone again then its one more day longer to wait so I will just sprinkle some in the tank LOL. Can't wait to see it in there. I read that zebbies like it coarse like Josh said, so I went for the coarse option, it also looks better than having the gravel on the ouside to blend with my gravel in the tank, but being able to see the dark orangybrown colour in the inside
  18. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.livingetc.com/imageBank/cache/v/Victorian-house-2_e_162dcf0e02d38b5ec8ab69babc9f7d1b.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.livingetc.com/houses/Lightfilled_Victorian_article_267743.html&usg=__dSYs8q-DDbNxDxcMLMCAU9mdssM=&h=300&w=300&sz=15&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=LML-DRpCzg0HgM:&tbnh=173&tbnw=173&ei=ypPkTcT2MZCssAOQwqkW&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhuge%2Bfishtank%2Broom%2Bdevider%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1419%26bih%3D703%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=624&page=1&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0&tx=107&ty=103 Something like that, but just layed out more riverlike and full of different kinds of plecos and lots of small school fish. Oooh that would be great !drool:
  19. Thanks all, I might just get 20 to start of with and see how it goes  Just asked the person if its ok if I do pick up on Sunday, if they say yes, then I will use the buy now and buy 20. They look quite pretty with their little red shells and pinkish bodies
  20. Yip the puffers are in their own little tank, and then I have my main tank. I just don't want them to completely take over my main tank, and I am not too sure whether they will eat my plants, I know the person on tm say that they only eat the dead leaves, but how can I be sure, googling did not bring up much info as well
  21. +1 I also do my filter maintance every 3 months and clean the pipes, I need to get a pipe brush though, for now I battle sticking a little cloth through it
  22. I have two pufferfish and they eat snails as quick as I put them in the tank. I was wondering if I had to keep them in my main tank whether they will be a pest or a blessing. I could feed them to my puffers and they could hopefully eat the dead leaves from my plants and the food that is left behind by my fish. Just not sure whether it will work or not. I was thinking on getting those red ramshorn snails what do you guys suggest
  23. Mine is so holy grail that I don't think it exists, cant find a pic of it, so just use your immagination. its a super duper long tank that serves as a divided wall, in it there is many different kinds of plecos, I just love any type of pleco. It will also have a beautiful big school of clown loaches in as well. That is all, I am not asking much am I :slfg:
  24. Nope, I went back to the place where I bought them and saw that their tank was also under quarantine and the manager told me he was busy treating them for intestinal worms, they also lost almost all of thier mollies. They offered to give me some more for free once they were healthy, but I declined the offer :nilly:
