I had malva a couple of weeks ago... delicious
  2. Found these laying under a hibiscus bush in our garden, essentially in the middle of the lawn. They seem too big for all birds I've seen around here - blackbirds, sparrows, minah birds, starlings, wild parrots, but not big enough to be duck eggs, who I have seen about half a KM away. My only suggested theory is that a hedgehog rolled them there after stealing them from the nest of a hairy mammoth.

:nfs: indeed there are still 2 left at HFF for someone other than me :spop: Ant, I don't have any prombles today but I do have a new cake for you to make - it's a speciality of Phillippines, calles Sansrival cake. It's layers of nutty meringue sandwiched between french butter cream......... very delicious. I was eating some today, I might have a promble getting into my jeans tomorrow..
  4. I have 3 fat loxozonus corys in a tank similar to that size and they are quite happy in a little group, have dwarf chain loaches too. I reckon you could get 3 or 4 of the big corys and they'd be ok, though smaller fish would look better to the eye in a small tank. Depends what plants and other things you've got in there.

    I don't see a problem...
  6. I have low tech low light tanks and I admit I never tried to grow red plants as I thought they needed extra iron from ferts, and lots of light.
  7. :nfs: shame about the rummies, glad you got ember tetra though

if you can get more circulation in the top of the tank it will go away somewhat, I've had that from time to time when the filter sponge gets full
  10. I have rain water :bounce: I suspect my CPDs could be getting on a bit now. I think they were full grown when I bought them and that was over a year ago. After Luke* came over we realised it was possible that I had had a few male + male pairings as I didn't realise the females have the little black dot. I mean, they probably did but I didn't know to look for that in a female, I was looking for chubbiness and less colour only... so yes a bit embarrassing I may not have had success for obvious reasons. In my defence I know I did get most of them right  I noticed that the 4 snails in the breeding tank were getting holes in their shells so I guess if I put rainwater in there I'd better move them out or they will surely die :tears:

he gets annoyed with pets in the house but we both know he prefers me drooling over a fish than fussing over a cat, so everybody wins
  14. hey Stu, what news with your minifish fry? Luke* inspired me to try to breed my CPDs again and it seems it didn't work. Just checked the hardness of the water and found it changed to yellow/orange on the second drop which means it's 20ppm which is pretty soft right? Do you think I will have more success if I add the baking soda and salt like you did? Is it that the eggs are laid but don't live or that the fish don't/can't produce properly without the minerals etc? Do the boraras brigittae like hard or soft water at your house? I've given my 2 maculatus away with the idea of getting a bigger school of brigittae but if they like soft water I figure I'll put them straight in the breeding tank and see what happens.

I think you should send him to me because you already have too many cute fish :digH:
  16. Hey Dr A, you can catch your own in the creek behind the zoo near Jaggers Bush park, if you drag your net in the weeds. Well, that's what I tell everyone anyway because that's where I caught some a couple of times.
  17. this little video from Amy Pohler just about sums up body image and making friends with the bits you think you don't like http://youtu.be/iOWqSPJZtmA also if you learn to dress in a way that accentuates your good bits you can feel gorgeous and happy with yourself at any size. *disclaimer: I have never met you so have no idea how you dress in real life, but it can be helpful to look into this notion if you look in the mirror and don't like what you see....
