maybe water evaporation would be a big problem with a shallow depth and wide area, but other than that, why not? what would you put in it?

I like algae in saltwater tanks :oops: does it smother the anemones or just live on the rock?

I made myself a table with columns for the 5 tanks, and the different fish I would like or already have, filling in the rows. By the time I had finished I was more confused and undecided than when I started. I guess tomorrow I will know whether or not I will give clown killies a go, or if I will stick with what's on my list. The new tank is reasonably easy, because it's got good current and a sucky filter I need big-little fish rather than minifish. The dilemma is what to put in the other breeding tank and the CPD and loach tank once I've finished rearranging :nilly:

there's an apisto at HFF that I was looking at, wondering if I should ignore your advice about the filter ......... in other news, have started putting together my new tank. My husband decided to build me a tank stand after all so I will have all wooden ones. While I'm waiting for that to be finished I have the water in the tank and will start cycling it tomorrow. Yes Sam, I have taken some progress pics.

3 out of 4 otos in this tank have died of unknown causes. I moved the 4th to the loach tank where I thought they did better but it seems that the orignal 2 in there have also disappeared so I'm left with the guy I moved from this tank.

I didn't think of that :sage: I have to do a lot of exercise to eat all the naughty food

do it! get them some boyfriends and see if you can get fry. After moving my remaining oto out of here this tank is going crappy again. There is a bloom of algae that looks rather like a white ringworm on one wall, I think it's that bacterial thing Jennifer mentioned and there is muck on the bottom and leaves as if I've stirred the gravel up. Some of my fish are looking a bit skinny too and I'm feeling rather disheartened about it. It needs a Tank Berocca to sort it out. :-?
