the joy of crypts melting is when they come back like little presents from the gravel
  3. I must be missing something - how is that you can flush a fish down the toilet and find it in a river? Don't city/town toilets flush into sewers and then out to treatment plants?
  4. Tonight's the night.... fish nookie night :happy2: They were all quite pleased to see each other when I took the divider out. :gigl:
  5. I think you should take a selection of the photos and put them in the freshwater members section so we can remember forever :tears:

your naughty crypts are melting :an!gry they should spring back fast though
  7. the bit I've taken out of the packet gets wrapped in foil
  8. why don't you just cut or chip off the amount the fish will eat and leave the rest of the block frozen, wrapped in foil? I have a permanent lunchbox in my freezer with various bits of frozen brine shrimp and blood worm
  9. poor misunderstand neons. they just need some tall plants and a big group to absorb the grumpy ones
  10. I always thought that frogs return to where they were spawned so if you planted some tadpoles in a pond wouldn't they grow into frogs and then leave? or is it that they return to their tadpole home? or am I completely bonkers, telling old wives tales? 8)
  11. was this implied swearing or did one of your multitude of pets walk over the keyboard? hint: if it were the former it isn't allowed :roey: back on topic - I notice that the seller says free but didn't post a buy now so now the auction has to run for a week with bidding, unless they realise to withdraw it.
  12. edited the title to get the attention of a local
  13. I am sure her actions would have a far reaching effect on her opportunities for employment in her chosen field too, it was just such a short sighted thing to do.
  14. I've had a lot of success with the chiropractor so I am on the side of recommending them. They can be extremely gentle. The key to ongoing spinal health is to keep moving, drinking your 8 glasses of water a day, and to be nice to yourself and not to get in any more car accidents. But seriously, the more you can move about when your spine is healing, the better. Gentle swimming, floor exercises that are not too strenuous are all good things to do. A gentle massage would be good but I believe that the muscles can only get as good as the bones they are attached to. If the bones are out of alignment then a massage will rarely be a long term fix.
  15. as soon as you have too many plants I will need bo buy some back again to plant my new tank :slfg:

    The What's Up? thread.

I just had BBQ pork fried rice
  17. that wood gunk looks like the stuff that grew in my CPD tank when I set it up for killies with 2 tree stumps - do you remember? It also seemed to do no harm but I chickened out and got rid of it
  18. had another death in here late last week - 1 emerald dwarf rasbora/ danio erythromicron, it wasted away. The numbers are slowly dwindling in here, I think I now have 8 CPDs left, 4 erythomicron, and 4 mosquito rasbora. Still getting hair algae in the twisted val and a bit of crud algae/bacteria in a corner, a little brush or beard algae here and there, but I'm not overly concerned about it now, I just clean it up from time to time. Everything looks better when the glass is clean, even if it's covered in algae. One day I will some more ferts and dose every day like Jennifer suggested :sage:
  19. so the day I put the suspected male in with the other 2 he hid like he was in trouble. I thought maybe I'd made a mistake. Next day, he was out with the other 2 and when I compare him to the females I am sure he's a male. First of all they eat less than the females and secondly the females have an almost silver belly and peach top where the males have a peach to red top half and a peach belly. He has a peach belly. Got another female on Sunday so now am happy I have 3 of each. I like these fish, they are very responsive. When I go into the garage the 2 females come to the front of the tank and they feed by darting to the surface like tetra.
