  1. Do you guys think hot glue would also be suitable to sticking rocks together?
  2. Oh sorry to hear that you are thinking of doing that. But yes if and when that time comes, I would be very interested in seeing what you have available. Really love the rainbows. Thanks!
  3. I cleaned the filter twice maybe. And possibly 3 50% waterchanges.
  4. Hi Adrienne, I picked that one up from Ronnie yesterday along with 2 nigrans rainbows. I wouldn't mind finding a second parkinson's to make a couple. This one definitely has plenty of colour.
  5. Hey Everyone, I havn't been around for quite some time. Been quite a busy year for me. I moved to the Auckland from Warkworth a year ago, but wasn't able to take my tank with me. Thankfully my brother fed my fish, and I occasionally checked up on it. So basically the tank has been neglected for a year, but now i have moved into a place together with my partner and was finally able to migrate my fish to Auckland  It took me a day, but i managed to do it with only one hiccup... filling the tank with hot water from the tap. I had the garden hose plumbed into the taps in the laundry. Seems the taps are on the wrong way! Which also explains why my washing used to come out of the machine hot! Anyway... Here's a few photos of my former Moss factory. Now I just need to wait and be patient and let the plants settle and grow. Hopefully they dont all die off! Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Cheers, Nick
  6. Wow, I never even knew these even existed!
  7. My forum clock changed itself... unless it was wrong all along!
  8. Difficult to know if you dont have the density of the substrate you want to use. Could always weigh a litre of it and you can work it out from there. Otherwise, buy too much. then you have plenty for your next tank
  9. Do you ever see your CPD's? Mine are so shy they hide 110% of the time.
  10. Hi Sam, Tanks looking nice. Sorry for not reading through every page, but what temperature do you find it is sitting at? I havent run any heaters on my small tanks since about november and they all sit around the low to mid 20's.
  11. This is a great little project. :gpo2:
  12. I agree with spoon. Either way will work
  13. http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/deta ... lb/m/1236/ Does it look like that???
  14. Well im guilty of it. Having my fish some 70-80 km from me, and dads house not having had rain for months now... I've not done a waterchange for about 3-4 months. Only topped up the water once in that time In saying that, i have only had 2 threadfin rainbows dissapear in that time... I say only as i tested the water today: PH 6 Kh 0 Gh 8 Nitrates 80-160 (pretty much off the scale) Changed 50% and the parameters afterwards are as follows. (Note our water tanks have been filled by a truck... probably sourcing it from a bore) PH 8.4 Kh 5 Gh 4 Nitrates 40-80 The moss has really taken hold in the tank, and id imagine i wouldn't have many fish left if there wasn't plenty of plant mass (ie moss) No algae has been growing on the glass either in that time, haven't cleaned it once. Before After
  15. i dont know, i pulled the heater out of their tank 2 months ago! room temp? :slfg: I thought it was in the low twenties though.
