  1. No, it came from an egg. awww shucks...
  2. The first phoenix came from an egg.
  3. I have only just about hatched!
  4. There is no such thing as a tropical axolotl.
  5. No, I think you misunderstand. A 60L tank is too small for one discus, let alone two or 3. I mean they eat the pebble (or pebbles) and then die because they cant poop it out. It gets stuck in their gut; they get infected and die.

    new here

Hi and welcome! :bounce: Plenty of African keepers here, and betta keepers too. Have a search through to see if you can find the info you need. Enjoy!
  7. Welcome. Hope you get all the information you need from here.
  8. waaaay ahead of you KP
  9. welcome 55. A 60L tank is too small for discus. It is also too small for axolotls. Discus are to be kept over 26C, and axolotls are to be kept under 20C. You also shouldn't keep axolotls with pebbles because they swallow them and then die because they can't excrete it.
  10. And if you're ever in doubt, take her out. That's a lot of fry to lose. I think with larger groups of fry, she will pick out the small weak ones and the faster growing babies will eat the small ones.
  11. Didn't they sign up to this site a while ago and answer that question especially for you? It was when HFF first announced that they were selling natives.
  12. I wouldn't recommend separating the parent from the babies. The amount of work she will actually do will amaze you. I know there is no way I could spend all day cleaning the babies and freeing them from trapped detritus. not to mention the babies are far too tiny. But you can if you want to I guess. I had a 100% survival rate leaving the mother in the tank, so try it out and see what happens. The only 1 baby I lost was when I removed the mother and the baby swam up high and swam right into the filter. The mother won't let the swim high up.
  13. The albino pleco and the geos have the potential to get too big. I really like those pure orange discus you have. why sell them?
  14. Feed them from 2-3 times a day in small - moderate quantities. you can see the food in their bellies. That's also why i used liquifry - cause its white and easy as to see, especially when they eat it. I didn't do any water changes, but that was because i had good filtration and it was in a planted tank, and plants tend to sort out water quality. I would do water changes when you see there is extra food at the bottom and that is going off. I just let the glosso cover it and use it as nutrient. sorry, didn't see that. but yeah its pretty normal.
  15. previously I asked about the braces and doddle69 answered, and since you two are from the same region i figured you were in the same household  but i wasn't sure. then he said his sand arrived on mon and my head exploded.
  16. This is sooo confusing... so doddle69 and you si, are not related / living in the same house / have the same tank?
  17. he should take care of the eggs and fan them, and then take some care of the babies.
  18. Get a 300W heater, nothing less. Get a jager if you can, but in all seriousness, if there comes a point when you think can't afford to run the tank best thing to do is not to run it. No point stressing over something like that.
  19. Choose your plants well. A planted tank would look odd with african rift lake and tang cichlids in it. A tank with plants will look fine. but that silica sand will ruin it in my opinion. A darker sand is always nice, or as you can see in the above tank; no sand at all.
  20. Mahurangi tech breeds them, went through a PILE of legal stuff and the offspring of the bred fish are sold.
