  1. Has any one else noticed the change in the tim tams? I think they are lighter, or fluffier on the inside - makes you eat more without feeling sick, which is real bad!
  2. Most of those cichlids will accept BBS after they consume the egg sac. Just soak the BBS in a syringe before you feed it to them.
  3. always been able to do it, but we used to do push ups on our thumbs for years and that undoubtedly helped me go past the 90degree angle
  4. That is Ludwigia repens. how long ago did you do that? Reduce the amount of food you feed, and feed many small meals a day instead. More plants would help, but I stick to what I said about the imbalance of nitrate.
  5. how many plants is plenty plants? could you post a pic?
  6. It normally comes about when there is an imbalance of nitrate and comes about with 'new tank syndrome' which is a normal phase. If this is not the case with you add more plants and increase the photo-period to about 8 hours a day. Supplement the plants with ferts too. A pic of the tank would help too.
  7. Jagers use lab glass that is shatterproof. similar to the flame resistant test tubes.
  8. is it a new tank or have you done an unusually large water change or cleaned all the filters well?
  9. ah. that's because the jager has an auto shut off system. I thought the fluvals had it too, but not sure about the m series. Mine tends to stay underwater
  10. mods should be able to find your old acct. what was the username? WB too, and great pics!
  11. No, there won't be a refund as the sellers do not take liability for import restrictions. Call up MAF - they would have checked the package based on the biosecurity act, but occasionally they do get things wrong. If you call them up on the number provided (depends on who is dealing with the case - customs or MAF) they are quite understanding if you tell them what it is.
  12. how are they looking today? They should recover ok, because it sounds like you did everything just right.
  13. Worked a whole hour and a half today! So now im mentally preparing my self for the upcoming week of hell.
  14. No. you match 54W with 54W. You cannot get 3ft 54W HO tubes - they are only ever 4ft.
  15. Really? I have one in my crypt tank. Got it the day they came out. 150W no and not broken so far thankfully! Heats a 63L tank.
  16. use flourish excel just as you are, but increase the other nutrients so that the plants can out compete the algae. Twisted val is a little more resilient to excel, but don't overdo it as it could all melt away. Other nutrients can be purchased in fert forms like flourish comprehensive.
  17. The Uruguaensis is anything but fine. It could be converting from emersed to submersed, but usually at that size they are grown submersed.
  18. JBL balls should help. Uruguaensis is not particularly easy to grow, so definitely help it out by giving it a JBL ball and a root tab if you have to.
  19. any pic I have taken is from that camera, so just look for a post of mine with some pics. Tank setup logs are a good source of pics. if you google the cameras - you'll get more answers than I can possibly provide. 10.1 MP I think.
