  1. Daltons + 6500K 70W MH + the occasional spot of CO2. its a weed!
  2. I used JBL discus food for the adults. No special attention, and the odd bit of blood worms everytime I can be bothered getting a tiny bit from the freezer for them. Seriously, they just breed. No BB tank, nothing. The tank is planted, with CO2 and the babies only ate decap brine shrimp. When they first lost their egg sac the only thing I fed them was liquifry because it was easy and readily available. No messing about either. I use a syringe to feed them and found the moss especially valuable because they would eat detritus off it and hid in it perfectly. The tank got its first water change ever when algae started kicking in. Maybe im lucky in that the males would usually dominate the female until the eggs were laid and fertilised, and then the females chased off the males. The mother of these fish was ok with the male being in the tank after the eggs were laid, but i took him out any how. The first female nearly killed the first male who used to hide vertically behind the heater / filter. PS- Pots must be the secret ingredient.
  3. Haven't tried I'll try catching the male from the 4ft and putting him in the other tank with the female. I mean she is ready to breed again he is a tricky bugger though. swims away when he sees the net
  4. pH is not the only difference it can be. It could be the TDS - total dissolved solids; amount of salt (put salt in with malawis).
  5. the water conditions they came from are probably different to what they have been put in. I found this to be the case with my old africans. I mean, they didn't even like large (40%) water changes.
  6. Any thing over 24 and under 30 is fine. 26 is probably best.
  7. for anything catfish .. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... ies_id=747 11cm is the reported size. I wouldn't be surprised with a deviation of 1cm either way.
  8. flexing They do it occasionally. I've noticed it most commonly with the royal whiptails.
  9. See Josh.. This is what I was telling you about.. How about change the title of the thread to - "Here we go again".
  10. I am talking agasazzi. cockatoos aren't half as agro as agasazzi.
  11. put a ©p44 in the bottom RHS corner and ill be happy as.
  12. old female- old male - old male -
  13. awww. look at him scwatching his head very cute
  14. check for eggs.... you never know. they are not very "coupley" fish. female lays eggs. male does his job. no more "relationship" ...
  15. The second female I had appeared normal when the male was about and didn't kill him or go bright yellow. she would flash her belly when the male was near, and didn't kill him. she had babies in the pot. The first female was a devil and nearly killed the first male and did the tell tale signs that you would expect to see.
  16. There shouldn't be any damage to the female. What's happening is pretty normal. However, when the female starts showing her belly to the male you'll know to remove the male because after that the tables may turn.
  17. moss shouldn't be sold by the cm. there is a reason it is sold as a bunch. im sure the plants are salvageable, but it wont be all that easy.
