  1. a lot of landlords will have no idea of ane of the stuff we know that can go wrong with tanks think of them as the general public in the petshop who have kept a goldfish in a bowl and had it die a week later and marvel at tropical tanks wishing they had the knowledge to keep them

  15. lol colour wasnt really the right word more the werent as bland as what i expected them to be i would be interested to see where canterbury mudfish are like if they are spread right across canterbury plains or just in isolated pockets
  16. nice videos i never knew native fish had so much colour the mudfish are very prehistoric looking kind of cool r they the canterbury 1s?
  17. ebay could be your best friend for buying heater and filter cheaper, im not sure what the prices are like overthere but likely to be a lot cheaper than here
  18. im about to do that with my smaller tanks and the frog tanks on thurs but i still have to sort out how im going to shift the euroveiw 90 as we dont get a trailer and truck till friday nite and im pretty sure the stand wont fit in my car! here is my plan : remove lites, co2 lids plants and bogwood, syphon tank water into 2 20l buckets (with lids) i have, catch fish put in the buckets , remove heaters(2x200w) and filter , put fish in car as well as heaters and filter (dont forget to bring my python) , go to new house chuck the heaters in the buckets and put the filter into the guppy tank running on low (just to keep the filter alive), go back to old house remove all gravel in tank( so i can lift it bymyself ,still very heavy) , break down stand(it unscrews) put in car , go 2 new place , rebuild stand, put tank on it , fill with sand(pre brought and already rinsed), put a plate on the sand and 3/4 fill tank with 26deg water(heaters set to 26 in buckets, will check temp is the same with thermometer first) put fish in, chuck plants in (aquascape and plant later) put heaters in and set up filter. my question is will i need to aerate the buckets while im back at the old house doing getting the tank(could take a while!) also to help clear the sandy water quicker im wondering about the clearing agents u can buy at the pet shop to floccultae particles together so they clear faster, has ane 1 used these ?
  19. mite be an idea for me to try i have a 2 ft tank wit a 2000lph powerhead pumping into a modified AR620 filter  and its full with baby guppies(the tank , havent checked the filter)
  20. spoon

    to many pets ?

2 cats, 2 rabbits (mini lop) 2 southern bell frogs 2 axolotls (On TM for living art) 100s of guppies bout 25 mollies, 9 neons 3 WCMM, 4 leopard danios, 6 golfish, 2 paradise fish, 2 borneo suckers, bout 10-20 freshwater shrimp, 2 BB gobies, 4 Golden gouramis, 2 bettas, 1 redspot pleco, 4 BNS, 6 bronze cories, pair kribs, 6 glowlight tetras, 10 golden barbs, 2 clown loaches
  21. ok the males have a bigger longer top fin thats more pointed at the end while the female has a short more rounded top fin, the males also tend to have more colour , there are probably more differences than i know of . stocking wise im not to on it with that i have 4 in a 200l tank with lots of other fish (no angels now tho) if u wanted more than 2 u may be better off looking at one of the dwarf gourami varieties(some have awesome colours) goldens can get quite large a far cry from the small 1s u see in the lfs and tend to be more aggressive than other varieties
  22. should b fine ive kept angels and golden gouramis together before. if u only intend on getting 2 or 3 gouramis id recommend getting all female so there is no males to fight each other or pick on the females
  23. guess i could use a guppy trap or float something in the tank to keep them in
