    Tank Upgrade Photos

Yup, I know. I've never really noticed mine doing it though. Only real changes he goes through is during the day his edges are all folded and at night he gets more like a flat disk.

Is that soggy clump of green yarn their anemone? Hehehe. Got a pic of it when it's not sulking?

    Reef Booster

Ok, I've decided, since I've made a little extra money working all the way through xmas and new years I'll buy some reef booster to give it a try. Now, where's the best place to get it?

    Ornaments

A little, but nothing a few coats of polyurethane won't cure.

    Ornaments

I've seen a shipwreck themed tank, it looked really good. Not using those pos little shipwreck ornaments, he had pots, coins and stuff you'd expect to find scattered around a shipwreck.

    Petrol Generator

I've run mine for maybe half an hour. I need to get a big can of petrol mixed up for it and ready to go though.

    Petrol Generator

They're 2 stroke though, which is a bit of a pain in the butt, so you'll want to get some 2 stroke oil and everything. Adds a few bucks.
  8. Point it past them then. They should get heaps of flow from the turbulence off the edge of the current.

    Petrol Generator

The bunnings ones are 750w max, 550 sustained. Or somewhere close to that. Either way, heaps to keep the circulation going on even a really big tank.
  10. Or you could buy a stack of rare earth magnets and DIY your own.
  11. Depends on the fish. I'd try to not let it go over 29 or so though.
  12. I wouldn't worry too much, most fish won't be hugely bothered by 29° Though, if I remember right those tanks lids are pretty poorly ventilated. If you leave part of the lid off to increase the circulation that should help let some of the heat from the lights out.
  13. Rossco, I think those threads you're seeing are just shed slime off the leathers. Can look like threads.

    New toys

Magnesium's sweet. I gave the whole skimmer a clean, ran the pump in the sink for half an hour or so with the venturi hose sucking in water, had a play with the adjustment nozzle while it was in there and sucking air. I didn't realize the dramatic difference in the amount of water it pumps with the nozzle wide open vs mostly closed. Flap was perfectly fine, btw. So, after I reassembled everything I thought I'd try finding where the flow of the pump(By watching the level of the water in the outlet) starts to dramatically drop off and try adjusting the air valve around that point. Seems that I get the most bubbles setting it just slightly open past where the water flow starts to nosedive. That's about the 1:30 position. We'll see how it goes now...
  15. I've found when I sieve out the bbs into a bucket ifI leave the water in the bucket I end up with it swarming with full grown brine shrimp after a month. That's without feeding or anything. But I'm sure you'd get better results feeding them.
  16. I don't think Xenia have sweepers. Are there any soft corals that do? I don't think so.
  17. That tank's pretty small for 8" oscars. And you're going to need a lot more than a week to cycle it.

    500

The severums size has nothing to do with them being bad with plants. There are a lot of other fish their size that are fine with them. It's the severums like to eat any plant that makes them bad with plants....

    deltec v beckett

I'd be happy to trade my Deltec for a becket. I assume that includes the pump? If I'm trading a fully operational deltec, I want a fully operational becket.
  20. That's exactly the brand I'm using right now. Was $15.80 for the 200G one...That looks like it's 400g? I can't quite read the label. Seems to be fine. Nothing's died, I've got it running in my cool fluidized media reactor.
  21. I wonder how much one of these costs? Looks like they're 2000lb bags on pallets. that's probably about a lifetime supply! Stolen from howstuffworks.com's article on the Georgia aquarium.
  22. That would have been because of the keyword, "Hydroponics" I bought a big roll of mylar film from a hydroponics place. Cost me like $40 but will last...Oh....20 years? Works fine for fish tanks instead of hydroponics. That should be enough for heaps of hydroponics, err I mean fish tanks not hydroponics. I don't have any use for a hydroponics setup... (Hydroponics hydroponics) Now let's see what happens with the google results.
  23. There is short term memory and long term memory. It's not just "Memory"
  24. Those aren't pictures. They're not even valid addresses...
  25. How would a yellow tank control your algae?
