    lucky worm

I'm on the harmless side of the scale, but a good sized one I'd probably not put back in because it might just be the one that prickled me...
  2. I have 3 404s and a 403. Primer seals fine and I don't usually need a bucket or anything to get it running. Don't usually need anything more than giving it a bit of a shake after it's filled with water to get it running.
  3. That's exactly how I had mine wired up, Evil. Worked well until wires somewhere corroded.
  4. I'd be having a chat with Jansens about the missing parts, not blaming fluvals. All mine work pretty much perfectly and MUCH better than my POS eheims. Except the one with the impeller that's busted and I haven't gotten around to buying a new one.

    Seios 3 livestock 0

Mine stretched a finger of a finger leather about 6 inches and stretched it out like a piece of bubble gum to suck it in. hehehe. No damage, pulled it out and it shrunk back to normal after a few days.
  6. I had 20, that was more than bright enough, I had to turn it down a bit(Variable power supply) to about half the voltage to get it where I think it was about right for a moonlight. How bright do you think you want a moonlight to be, Anthony? 300 of them is going be be blinding bright. Moonlights are just supposed to be...You know...like moonlight. Just a dim blue light, not bright enough to keep everything awake.

    Sad looking tank

Ammonia 0, don't have a nitrite, nitrate is 7ish. And no, we never use fly sprays or similar near the tank or in most of the house. Haven't used one in about 2 years iirc.

If it was a horribly bad batch of salt wouldn't it have shown up in the 3-4 water changes beforehand?

I'll take some tomorrow. Don't have any right now.

Yeah, I've yanked the carbon and phosphate resin out, it's not going back in for a looong time. And I'll do as big of a water change as I can with ASW, about 30-40%. I'm not so sure I want to do that though, because I'm tending to blame a lack of something in the ASW. Although, I don't have any justification for that.

    Help Please!!!

I'd like to see a picture of it. I think the true oxygen weed is purely aquatic.
  13. www.dpt.co.nz is pretty good for LED prices. I made a moonlight with 20 of the blue LEDs from him. Worked great except for the parts of it I screwed up.

Ummm, Not sure exactly, I didn't measure exactly. A handful or two more than in this picture. I started it with that much, added another handful after 2 weeks then a couple weeks later I changed the plumbing around so the return pump was blowing through it.

Instead of shortening the lights timing I've just raised it up about a foot. If the problem turns out to be because of the low KH I'm going to start banging my head on the floor like this for missing something so obvious, and not testing it since, according to my records, December 2nd.

No, the corals colors are about the same. Well, except the leather that's grumpy, it's gray instead of its normal tan. Cracker, I never noticed any change in water color from befor or after adding carbon. I only added it because people tell me I should. O_o

Beforehand I'd been using ASW for 3-4 months, the reason I got some NSW is because the tank was looking bad. So, since the NSW came after the problem started it's not due to the NSW. Just retested the salinity, it's a bit more like 1.025. Tested with a refractometer. I'm thinking I'll leave the carbon out for good. No noticable difference from having it in. Hmm, Yeah, I think I'll mix up a batch of ASW and do a big water change. I can't do a 50% though, not without dropping the water level past a couple corals and my anemone and draining my sump dry.

    Sad looking tank

My tank has been looking really sad for the last month or so. I made two changes about that time, I don't know if they're related. I changed my fluidized media reactors with carbon and antiphos so they're being fed by my return pump and started feeding Reef Booster. All my palythoa polyps have closed up and haven't opened in about a month. All my zoanthids have closed up, one of my leathers is looking grumpy constantly, one of the heads of my hammer coral has died and my new green hammer is dying off(I'm pissed off about that) I've done 2 changes with NSW in the last month. My tests are Magnesium: 1300 Calcium: 420 PH: 8.1 Nitrates: 7ish KH: 5.4 SG: 1.026 I know the KH is way low, I somehow missed testing that the last time or two :-? Not sure how. Would that be the cause of the problems? Is it possible I've OD'd on carbon by upping the flow through the reactors? Maybe it's absorbed too much of something I can't test for? Possible overdosing on Reef Booster? I've been feeding the normal weekly dose(1 vial a week) every second week. So any ideas? Doesn't help that I'm leaving on a trip for 2 weeks next weekend. Bad timing, tank dying, dog dying...

    pH

It's one of those thingies that blow water around.
  20. Repeat after me, "Egg layers do not get pregnant. Egg layers do not get pregnant. Egg layers do not get pregnant."

    Magnesium

I have to add about 200 grams of mag chloride to my tank at a time! GO through the stuff real quick.
  22. I haven't found Kalk to be particularly effective unless you have an aiptasia that's nice enought to sit right on the top of something and let you cover it completely without ducking into a hole.
  23. Yeah, it's reef safe. I found it to be about as effective as kalk paste. Found sodium hydroxide to be a lot more effective but you have to be FAR MORE careful because it nukes anything and everything it touches.
  24. At least with racing you can get usually at least small sponsorships. Maybe I should call Remus at The Pet House and see if I can get him to supply me with equipment in exchange for putting a sticker for his shop on my tank?
  25. Must be nice to have stupid amounts of money.
