    Filtration

If you do use filter wool and sponges I'd say it would be better to clean them in tap water if yours is heavily chlorinated. Keeps them from becoming biological instead of just straight mechnaical filtration.

    Metal Halide

I have a magnetic ballast labeled HPS that seems to work fine with marine 250 DE bulbs.
  3. Actually, I work in a ghetto... Don't tell my boss I said that.
  4. My deltec's skimmate smells like it came out of an old man's underpants... ewww...

    plumbing advice

Most are probably intended to be removable, I doubt marine tanks are their intended usage. Using a gasket is far better for that than silicone.

    Doh

Heh, I did something similar. Accidentally knocked the hose off my return pump(OMG, 6000 LPH straight up is a lot of water!) and it tripped the RCD when everything in the sump got soaked. So I dried everything off and flipped the RCD back on. FOOOSH*CLICK* Everything was soaked again because I'd forgotten to put the hose back on. It's hose clamped on now.

    Filtration

About 55 kilos of liverock, a deltec MCE600 and two Oceanwerx FR1-304s, one with antiphos and the other with carbon.
  8. Just about any fish will eat a tasty hunk of dead meat in their tank. Goldfish are no different when another goldfish dies.

    Black light

Dimsum, the water itself flouresces, so I'd say that they've been pretty busy.
  10. 120L isn't a nano reef. That's just small.
  11. For a night light it will. For actinic supplementation, no. Not unless you have several hundred of them. Otherwise it just won't have the power to make a difference.
  12. Nah, it's probably about average size or even relatively small. That's a small shark. From the looks of it I'd bet it's less than 2 feet. It's just a baby.

    Black light

If you use glass to block the UV then you're blocking what CAUSES the flourescense. Glass doesn't block all of it though, otherwise when I shine my UV torch into the tank nothing would flouresce. I'd probably just use the blacklight for an occasional light though. Only when you want to show off the tank at night or similar. I doubt it would cause any harm though. They're UVA which is basically harmless. Not UVB(Causes sunburns) or UVC(UV sterilizers)

    Reef Booster

It'd cost me more to go get it than shipping would cost.

  19. I have one of my 404s that the impeller busted being fed by a Via Aqua 1300 powerhead. $40 for the powerhead vs $$$more for the impeller. Heh. Works great.

    Tank Upgrade Photos

Here's mine as of a few minutes ago. Doesn't look nearly as nice as yours do. Someday though. It's only taken almost a year to get some color back into him.

No. At the moment it's more of an off white. But when some of the tentacles shrivel up they do look green.
  23. Had it set to tape, TV switched over to Alias about 10 seconds into the segment.
  24. I don't usually have trouble with my fluvals anymore. If giving them a bit of a shake doesn't help just pull off the outlet hose and drain it into a bucket for a bit. That's usually more than enough to get it's throat cleared.

Looks nice, btw. Hope mine eventually looks that good. (I'm assuming it's a Sebae? I'm useless at ID'ing anemones)
