    Reef Booster

I think it really seems obvious enough, "Feeding too much is bad." is pretty much a well known constant for reef, fowlr, freshwater, etc....
  2. Uhhh, I seriously doubt it's iron deposits...Does it stick to a magnet?...Well, I mean any more than any other kind of slime sticks to objects.
  3. If that's a concern, you have bigger things to worry about.

    Reef Booster

You should get a job in marketing, Reef! "Why get stuff for free? Wouldn't you be happier getting it for cheap instead?" Hehe.
  5. Yeah, the technical name for the brown stuff is "Gunk" heh, most of your bacteria well be on and in your sponges. You can't see it, it's just a microscopic film. Apparently the gunk makes an excellent daphnia food...

Who else thinks Reef should send "Xmas trial packs" around to everyone?
  7. Other than 10mm is thicker than you'd need and therefore more expensive...Nope, no reason you shouldn't use it.
  8. I never noticed any of mine producing excessive amounts of poo except if I put one straight into a really dirty tank with lots of algae. For a day or two there's heaps until it's all cleaned up. So, in conclusion, plecos poo so much because you have a dirty tank.
  9. Why would you want to get rid of them?

    Reefs Reef Tank

Yeah, it's a top view from further back. Just match colors of the corals in the reflection with the parts you can see.

    LED lighting HELP!

You have a multimeter? Put it on the terminals and measure what happens to the resistance when you twist the rheostat. Then wire the thing up to the ones that do what you want.
  13. no it won't! You might have some bacteria from deep sea vents and they like boiling temperatures. They'll breed like mad and then kill all your fish when you use the water! [/sarcasm] in case noone noticed.

    LED lighting HELP!

Just splice a rheostat into the wire somewhere, that'll do it just fine. Just get a good one though, I fried one that should have been rated high enough, but apparently wasn't...

    New toys

It's an MCE600, I check that little flap every time I clean it and it seems to be working fine. That's possible. Please don't ever mention that again.
  16. Does GPS work underwater? More than just a few meters I mean? So, what's the difference between the two hemispheres for compasses? I can't think of anything that would need to be changed, all you'd have to do is adjust for magnetic variation which is, iirc correctly from 11-15° in the US and 21-22° in NZ. Maybe you need to hold a northern hemisphere compass upside down for it to work in the southern hemisphere?

    New toys

It seems to either do nothing or blow dry foam all over the place. Maybe it's working great and I just have nothing to compare it to. It takes maybe a week or two per cup of skimmate, none of my adjustments seem to make much difference and it's perform about the same the entire time I've had it...I guess it's working ok, but I expected more from a $700 skimmer from the uber-godlike deltec...

    New toys

Won't be seeing any by me any time soon. And I'm far from impressed by my deltec skimmer...
  19. New Zealand uses a different north pole?
  20. That or one of his fellow bristleworms will eat the corpse...Or many little ones will eat it and grow to nice big sizes...
