    CFL's over T8's?

    Yeah, those should be fine.
  2. Yup, that's what happens to them in my tanks. I've thrown coral in the filter and a couple pieces of coral in the tank, they don't seem to be dissolving so fast anymore.

    Sumps

Yes, if you make an hang on back overflow that siphons into a container in the back and then drains from that into the sump. It's not the preferred method though.
  4. That's not trout's natural habitat, they're an introduced noxious pest.
  5. I can see that if you screw that up with your off-hand that you'll be in deep sh...Poo.

Given the relatively low cost of the replacements, and their fraction of the total running cost of the tank, I don't think it's really an issue to worry about.
  7. What makes it a cocolae cake rather than chocolate?
  8. Probably because for 99% of people the condition and inhabitants of waterways does not provide entertainment, money or interest beyond, "oh, that's nice."
  9. A lot of people put the recommended minimum for a mated pair at near 500L, and mated pairs get along a lot better so are ok in less.
  10. It appears to be paved asphalt, 6200 feet long with a 16/34 orientation and in generally good condition. BTW, props for spelling "isle" correctly.
  11. I'd be inclined to say it's already too small for two oscars.
  12. Without a full autopsy I'm just going to blame tachycardia.
  13. The van is always on the corner syndrome...
  14. Your kid is broken. I used to LOVE power outages when I was a kid. Wandering around the house with just candles for light, it was great.

Yep, you can. Works fine. Wire up 3-4 fluoros like this one and you'll have heaps of light.
  16. That will only work if you don't pay your powerbill.
  17. Males tend to have longer fins and more orange on their fins.
  18. You mean the genuine hard tubing or something that will work? You could easily make something up with PVC pipe and elbows, Mitre 10 or Bunnings should have most everything you need then, including fittings to connect to the hoses. Where to get the genuine stuff...Dunno.
  19. Hmm, that's a point. I could run an extension cord to my work. We have 10 UPSes and something like 4 megawatts of generators.
  20. I think they're ok for one way, but each translation just makes it worse...
