    ... What the?

I'd do a second dose a day or two later after vacuuming out any die off. Just to be sure.

Both are correct. It has a very wide effective dosage range. I did two doses of 200mg per 100L I think when I did mine. I bet one dose would have been enough, it all looked dead within an hour or so.
  3. I think a bunch of computer fans is an expensive, inefficient way of doing it if you can use a desk fan from the warehouse for a fraction of the price that blows FAR more air.
  4. Hence why I said "for the most part..." That's the only native that isn't a brown lump.(Well, I guess a few are gray lumps)
  5. And exactly the kind of destructive invasive animals that the import regulations are intended to try and stop.
  6. Because, for the most part they're boring brown lumps.
  7. Wrap some fiber reinforced tape around the outside of the boxes to reinforce them.
  8. Most epoxies should work and should be non-toxic. Foam safe CA from a hobby shop would work too, normal superglue melts polystyrene.
  9. Just the thought of eating whitebait makes me a little nauseous. I don't think it's good for anything but fish food.

  12. It's generally as hard as keeping a tropical marine tank, plus you need a chiller which will cost about $1000. Look in the saltwater forum. And yes, you need a skimmer. There is no real difference between tropical and coldwater other than the lack of coldwater corals.
  13. After some googling...It definitely seems marketed towards goths and emos, haha.
  14. Yeah, but the lower the ratio of surface area to volume...

Probably easier to import it yourself, assuming they're available somewhere with 230V.
  16. T12s are the big ones, T8s are the middle size ones, T5s are the little ones. You're not likely to find t12s though. I have a couple in the spider shed off my carport, but I think they've been there since the 1970s...

I think I saw an NZ website with one not long ago. IIRC they were up in the $800+ range. Likely $1200+ in shops.
  18. The brown snails next to the green daphnia are snails. The green daphnia next to the brown snails are daphnia.
  19. Yeah they are. They're just a bit bigger and greener than most. And being lit from the top they're not translucent like backlit pics like most.
  20. I've never seen them orange. They're whatever color the food they're eating is. Usually green. They look like little green balls with a frilly bit poking out of one end. Really pretty much just like they do in microscopic pictures just smaller. Here's a pic I took years ago...
