  1. "A friend..." Comeon, no one ever believes that. I know you're ashamed of wanting to breed goldfish but you just need to accept it and come out of the closet... :slfg:
  2. You can, but it will be weak and expensive. Better to replace the pump with a quiet one or fix why it's noisy. Is it touching the glass? Vibration transmitted through the plumbing, etc?
  3. Yeah, the vicious fighting faceripper gouramis can get up to into the 20cm range.

    Archerfish

Yep, they're available occasionally. Though they're brackish.
  5. Could it? In theory, yes. But that's not the intent, it's not publically available and who cares anyway? If you're embarassed by who you voted for you should have voted for someone else.
  6. What's unusual about it? The whole baby shower is because someone is incubating a hideous crotchbursting parasite...seems fitting.
  7. Look at my horse lamp, my horse lamp is amazing.

    Algae growth?

Cool. Totally normal. Hugely variable, weekly, yearly. Clean it as often as you feel you need.
  9. The tank's a good size for the various Geos. I had some nice big ones in mine of the same size before they all died due to a clogged filter while I was on vacation. :tears:
  10. I'd say you're full up already. I think I have buckets bigger than that tank, and the minimum suggested tank size for them is usually said to be twice volume of that tank.

    Sunken in Bellies?

Hard to say for sure based on the pictures, but the angels look normal. And I think what you have with that guppy is "Poop"

    Just wondering...

Here's one of my rare Bristlenose Remoras... And buckethead ancistrus... And a ringneck catfish... I can only conclude from the last two that fish are morons. And I have a lot of crap that's fallen in my tanks...
  13. Yeah, there usually are in rockpools on the shore. Doubt it. Yeah, why wouldn't they? They're living right where they want to be. I think you're thinking they're freshwater shrimp, but they're almost definitely marine shrimp probably Palaemon affinis.
  14. You don't get a higher velocity without higher pressure, the smaller holes give a higher velocity by restricting the flow increasing the pressure. Pumps will not provide the same volume at a higher pressure resulting in a decreased volume. If you want some simplified equations: Flow=Velocity X Area Velocity= Sqrt(Pressure) So, Flow=sqrt(pressure)*Area Area has no influence on velocity at a given pressure. But in the example of a pumped water system decreasing the outlet area results in an increase in pressure but the increased backpressure results in a decrease in flow from the pump. You can look at the back the box for almost any pump and find the curve of flow vs pressure.
  15. If I squint and use my imagination a bit I can sort of make out something that looks like leaves. They look about normal.
  16. Sounds fine, there's no real rules for it other than more and larger=more volume lower velocity, fewer and smaller= more velocity lower volume. I'd also suggest putting a few holes pointing straight down from the spraybar to give some flow in the dead area under the bar, but that's just personal preference.
  17. The little tiny nets that hang on the side of a tank and are so small the stress out and kill just about anything other than fry that's put in them? Yeah, they're ok for fry usually for a week or so, but a dedicated fry tank is significantly better.
  18. You sure it's not something like green hair algae? Assuming it's the green blob below and to the right of the pot thing. Not a good enough picture to see the texture.
  19. Yeah, that definitely doesn't look right. I don't know if I'd call the brown stuff crap, since it's usually food colored.
  20. Yes, it's fine. Rinse and scrub any loose garbage off it and throw it in the tank. It won't have enough salt on/in it to cause a problem, less than some people use in their tanks in normal conditions, and none of it toxic. The likelyhood of introducing any disease is practically zero, anything that might have been on it will be saltwater diseases and parasites and will die in freshwater. You might get a bit of browning of the water. Or it's ugly. Either one is harmless. People WAAAAAY overthink putting driftwood in their tank.

    Live rock

Generally your best bet is to find someone local with a tank, trade them a bunch of base rock for some live rock. Or find someone who is shutting down their tank.
  22. For that middle door, I'd probably have it be a single door that hinges upwards rather than outwards at the sides. Or maybe even the whole thing just unclips and you can set it aside.

    Red Devil

Some people keep them, not a huge number. The market for them is mostly people that don't know any better and people who want a fish that will probably kill everything you try to keep with it. There are a few exceptions though.
  24. I'd take advantage of it. Set up a sump. Alternatively, plumb it into your cannister filters.
