  1. Yes I can't wait for the smart posts to appear. There is no easy way to catch the fish you want. No matter what they tell you.
  2. It is stunning. Where did you get it from? If found, how did you know where to look?
  3. How common are these in the LFS? I have not heard of them until now, but am considering getting some if they are around. I saw Neon had their's spawn and got to Googling them. Pretty cool little fish. Or maybe someone in Chch who has bred them?
  4. Freaking awesome dude !!!
  5. Now all I need is some fish to breed
  6. I re-scaped my 80g today, it needed some height imo. I also pulled apart a peace lily to see how well it grows with wet roots.
  7. Google planaria worms. If it is them they are harmless.
  8. Cool fish. I can imagine it having an attitude
  9. If you feed the snails things like spirulina discs and vege then they will mostly leave you plants alone. My snails really only ate Indian fern and other thin leaved plants.
  10. I wish. It was a huge piece of wood. Might have fitted fully into a 25,000L tank. That would make a nice planted Discus setup.
  11. It was meant to say looking from the west. That was some dude on a trike. From the looks of the tracks they go up and down the beach a couple of times a day.
  12. I went for a walk down Hokitika Beach today. It is so gorgeous I had to share Here are some photo's from today in the sunshine. There was even the illusion of warmth lol. Green seaweed Driftwood and mountain Red seaweed Jellyfish blob Stone Looking North Stump Roots Hokitika river looking west to the Southern Alps
  13. I guess it would depend on how stocked the tank is and how much you feed your fish. I definitely recognize the importance of a Grav Vac. Mine is a fine sand base and I have 10 Horsefaced loaches which sift through the top inch of sand so nothing settles and builds up.
  14. No. Exactly the same process. Maybe only 15% more effort or time involved. I have lots of plants and loaches so I don't bother with gravel vac'ing. I spend more time cleaning the inside of the glass is all.
  15. IME the brown is under developed leaves and shoots. Give it a bit longer and they should all turn green and lush. Nice set up
  16. Wow I loved the one in the last photo of the first post. What do you call that colour. Kind of cross between light blue and very pale turquoise.
  17. Yes it is my 4' tank. But I broke it down when I moved from Auckland. I like it because is 600mm high, so the plants have lots of growing space. The red plants were very temperamental for me. The Glass cats loved the surface leaves of the Tiger Lotus, and the Aponogetons.
  18. IMO and IME Glass cats need lots of cover. They are mostly nocturnal. Will hide during the day. You really need plants. If you don't have enough surface cover then you need a log for them to hide under. The need a good current as well. They hover together in the current and prefer frozen/fresh food. Bloodworms were preferred by mine. They are very cool fish, but not an active fish. Don't buy them thinking they will be out and about, they won't. They don't spend much time at all swimming about the tank during the day. If you do want them as a school I would recommend 12 or more. Then they have safety in numbers are will tend to swim a little more.
  19. Ira, sweetie, that was supposed to be our little secret.
  20. And there is always the "building a whole new wall" option
  21. I only eat some fish, only if it is cooked all the way through, and if it is fresh. No shellfish, no sushi, no tuna, no salmon.
  22. With all the sarcasm around today I have gotten a good few smirks. I want to complain about a pointless subject that really gets on my goat. And I don't like other things getting on my goat. I have a long email address. It is different. Even slightly unusual. But when I email "you" I expect a response in a timely manner. That's right, a response, a reply, an acknowledgement. Just because you do not recognize the email address is not a valid excuse not to read it WHEN THE SUBJECT STATES: EMAIL TO YOU Consider "yourself" told! Disclaimer: I am not aiming this at, or criticizing any member of this website. It is a general complaint directed to the world at large. Does anybody else get sick of non-repliers?
  23. And while you are at it get an LED headlamp for next to nothing that lasts 10,000 hours.
