  1. 1-2 years? i can be sure 1 year wouldnt be a problem... i had the tanks lying around so why not... my big dats pretty ugly, but shows some intense colour for 2-3 hours after each water change the smaller ones more stable (25 and 23 cm respectively). but my baby dats are ALWAYs stable. the 2 big ones can finish a whole pack of blood worms in a whole day.
  2. waaaah, if i send any more pms ill explode!!! nah, sending oo manys just annoying
  3. i had mine in a 60l, then a 150l (same size as yours) now then are in a 800l
  4. and excuse my spelling and grammar, trying 2 post this on my moblie and listening to my stats lecturer at the same time

  6. my small dats feed on freezed dried shrimps, bt the big ones take fresh market shrimps, both get some bloodworms every two days. And if ur lucky, they mite also take pellets, floating and sinking. When picking fish, just make sure they have good fins, clear eyes, no red around the gills and no obvious scale problems. In fish shops they are usually hiding, u can see if they ar active by dangling your hands over the tank, they usually dart out. Dont worry if the colour of the dat, it may seem washed out and spickly. But this'll probably go away once you take it home. From then on, the stripes can come and go depending on tempreture, diet, tankmates, its territory, water parameter. And if kept in groups, try to keep them in groups of 3 or more. They are fantastic fish and develope fantastic personalities, mine rockets outta nowhere when it sees me, bt completely ignores my gf. Hehehe, enjoy the fish!
  7. dont know what my asian name means, its nan, its the combination of 2 other characters, wood and south. but my english name is roger, named after my fathers mentor. it orginated from germany and means good with a spear... it also means "got your message" in both military- and civilian aviation radio communications - cant imagine how much cr*p i got at school for this one. and according to wikipedia it was also the slang for the male appendage.. how nice.
  8. i have 2 choc talking cats they actually click when captured!!! but since theyve been in my tank, ive never seen them out. the only way is to turn off ALL my lights, chuck in a bit of bloodworm... and wait with a torch. but now it got bigger, it tail pokes out of its hiding place so i can see its rare end. platinum are whitish on pale sand, and more gold on darker sand. my normal senegal is dark grey when it was on black sand, now its almost complete white on a gravel-less tank. my gf thought i got another one,
  9. hahahaha, im glad i put or ill get flamed to death... yeah, just drill a hole, i mean its not that hard, takes about 5 minutes, and if you ever decide to get rid of the overflow, just silicon a piece of glass over the hole and its back to a normal tank.
  10. ive never seen it done, but in theory, you can put a pump of the exact output in the tank as well as in the sump, HOWEVER, if the pumps has the slightest discrepancy, it will result in one tank overflowing. therefore, you can have a line where the water level is, then mark plus or minus 5 cm. and the filter can be altered when the water level rose or dropped. but dont listen to me, its just an idea, never seen it done. i cant imagine any way you can do it without a hole.
  11. true... but it doesnt make ANY sound, i just have another hole drilled with a pipe going straight into the tank, so if the bottom hole gets blocked, the water will just flow out the top hole instead. and if i see the water level in the overflow increases to hole 2, then ill just unclog hole 1, so far that havnt happened yet
  12. yeah, fresh water sumps really easy, mine just has a overflow with the water flowing into a bucket with media, theres a few holes at the bottom of the bucket, and a pump just pumps back up any water that flows down. speaking of which, anyone else on here running a full siphon?
  13. you get what you pay for however id have a slightly ragged fish thats half the price. i mean if you care for it properly, it only takes a week for it to be healthy again...
  14. origin in browns bay is abut 10 minutes away from hff albany, its cheeeeap...
  15. as far as im concerned, shrimp is like protein shakes for fish, high in protein and vitamins (d, b12, b3), however low in fat, about the same as skinless chicken breasts. so its very very good for fish... and people
  16. lol, they should make pellets to resemble a guppie or something :P:P but ummm, my borneo tiger will not eat anything but shrimps, whole blocks of bloodworms, and live food... i dont think i can afford to feed my borneos on hikari pellets eh... 120 bucks for 1 kilo... i mean it only cost 50 dollars for a kilo of bloodworms... and shrimp from foodtowns even better, i get the one called "raw shrimps from china" or something like that...
  17. YEAH!!! its fully regenerated! what a beast, ate like a pig today... its about 10cm and it ate 7/8 aro pellets 0.0 all the scales have grown back but the front of its right fin is dangling and black... dead. but it should grow back, and some creases in the back fin havnt disappeared. i think its lucky to be alive... i literally stopped the pipe, and blew him back out. and also lucky i had a extra hole in by overflow, or therell be alot of water on ground.... (YEAH, Who else has a full siphon in a fresh water tank here?)
  18. how big are the ones i got off you a.prophecy? about 20-23cmish eh... still got a bit to go till i catch up to urs henward... but im growing out a small silver so i cannot get the big one... speaking of which its healed already from the filter pipe accident (yes it got sucked in and i had to blow it out...) =.=
  19. id pay up to 200 bux for it. and ill get it provide it doesnt eat my 8' ornates. great fish, a are example of a big one, not many around
