i agree with you luke, he was a exteremely capable fishkeeper,infact, he designed my 6ft setup, helped me to get things at a low cost yet remained effective. i used to drive 40 minutes to his shop, most of the times just to have a chat. he will be missed, not only as a fish keeper, but to me, also as a friend.

from the sump? that wouldnt work as if you dont turn the overflow off, the water level will only decrease in the sump, and i can change about 70l max. so i think the pump does need to be turned off... and w/c straight from the main tank.

u have to siphon it to get it started... thats as far as i know... as to how effective it is, i have no idea, provided you get a pump rated < overflow value, it should work like a normal overflow.

that box has 2 holes, i think if i wanted to, i reckon it would take 14000lph+.as the ball valve is less than half open at 3200lph (but real flow probably only 3000ish)

haha, david, now u can see how my box filter is better eh?? muahahaha, so when the fish falls into it, its not all the way down the bottom of the tank, i made a little comb filter to go on the top out of plastic to stop my fish falling into it. and the best thing is, it doesnt make ANY sound. i always found ornates go nicely with that red sand i got off you... (not enough), a quarter of the tank is still glass....

my aro eats HIKARI food sticks 2 of the dats and the baby dels eat HIKARI carnivore pellets the knife eats both. of course i give them prawns too. also have one of the shops near work to order in some HIKARI massivore delites. hopefully they can get some

yeah, surprisingly, the big one occasionally swallows the smaller ones head when they go for the same piece of pellet at the same time. i think the dels will have the gills for quite a bit, especially if i keep them in clean water, if the waters dirty, theyll lose them in no time.

my knife ate within 2 hours of settling in, it eats aro stix and heart and shrimp... so i was lucky i guess

hehehe, my tank updates, enjoy! the tank stocking are as follows 7 x indo tigers (2' - 15') 3 x ornates 1 x senegalus 2 x port hoplos 2 x silver arowanas and 1 x royal knife fish they are fed primarily on market prawns, get bloodworm cubes once a week and chicken heart twice a week. 2 of the indos also take hikari sinking carnivore pellets and the knife eats arowana sticks. has a 3000lph pump in a wet dry sump, 1 fluval 3 internal and some big external filter rated at 2500 lph. so yes, over stocked and overfiltered, 2 x 50% wc weekly. in a seperate 3" i have 3 growing delhezis Check the external gills!!!

growth rate varies, 2 of my 4' ones have gone to 6' while the other one hasnt changed. picky eaters, especially when large, but can go a ridiculous amount of time without food... and i wouldnt compare them to oscars, when a baby oscars fully grown, a dats probably grown 1'... haha
