  1. O. and chocolate for the winners too... got to have chocolate!
  2. how about a package reflecting the comp, ie. jebo fert balls, flourish, some feed of winners choice? etc... easy to ship, and is useful to anyone who has a planted tank, as we will after the comp is over. vouchers are not going to be useful to someone in dunedin for example... o and to Animal Antics for coming to the party
  3. careful, youll get a warning for swearing like that...
  4. try a second job? there is tradestaff on cameron road, up by the firestation. they do short term contracts etc, usually i had a diff job every day. student job search? dunno if your studying or working, but you could try those... good luck!
  5. glad to see some people still have a sense of humour http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 937776.htm
  6. most toxic algae are dinflagelates or diatoms, they come under algae, but are diff to the algae we get in our tanks. +1 to what Ira said
  7. multiple tank syndrome? or am i missing another definition for MTS ?? lol
  8. carbon works well, but only if you change it often (every month or so). it will remove alot of things, meds, ferts, and other gunk that may be in your water. i use it now only sometimes, ie, once a month, and have it in a fine-mesh bag in my ovewrflow. leave it there for a couple weeks, then remove it again. its great in small amounts, and definately can see an improvement in my water clarity. others will sayt that it is useless and a waste of time. but thats thier experiences with it. try it out, with and without, and make a conclusion yourself on how you want to use it, if at all. hope that helps Chris
  9. indeed, i know the feeling... like watching a pacu in a turtle tank at a pet store... whereby it had its belly on the ground and its dorsal fin clear of the water, and was being scratched by turtles trying to climb atop it... never will i forget that
  10. probably hangover mate, bugger though...
  11. lol deleting! haha, good way to put it... still illegal but im with you on that one mate
  12. awesome! how did i miss this thread??? if there are any seeds left i wouldnt mind attempting a go?! pleaaaaaaaase well done mate, congrats
  13. my plec gets carrot (which he leaves till last) cucumber, and courgette. i love watchinghim try to eat the cucumber when he makes a ring out of it, he goes round in circles (the cucumber floats slightly) trying to eat the middle, or he takes it into his cave and you just see his tail swishing as e forces it up against the back glass.
  14. ive always seen 1 to 1 male:female, eing that they pair off and both will look after the eggs if given the oppertunity. might make it easier if you have 2 breeder tanks for each pair too. then you can let them "do thea thang" and remove them back to a normal tank. ive heard that placing a peice o tile/ slate on the side of the tank also is a good idea as they will lay onto this and it can be easily removed and put into a rearing tank. i was going to breed my gold atlum angel then she got finrot and died in a couple days... too quick for me to do anything about it, and i still dont know exactly Y... good luck!
  15. thats some nice coral bleaching... lol most of my pics are on 35mm but there are some awesome ics there guys!
  16. full yardie or a half? i had a traditional one, 8 beers, but it was cold and frothy as (told my dad to take it out and fill it early, but nooo) but i did alright, i dont think anyone timed it aye paul? lol woulda been a shocker, stopping for burps sucks... gimme my funnel....
  17. you could, but prob wont achieve anyhting other than colouring your water... lol allgood mate, keep up the changes and youll be right
  18. bingo was his name-o.. bet that with the additional fish your ammonia woulda spiked. waterchanges man, especially in a tank like that, should be weekly if not daily when you add new fish. i reccomend immediately doing one. and getting your water tested, most LPS do it for free these days. dont feel bad though, we all learn the hard way sometimes. the pleco woulda started to have a munch on the loaches overnight, thatl b y they look ragged abit too.
  19. thats my guess... maybe the pleco been sucking the slime off them? ive heard of that before... but not that quickly, and that many...
  20. kribs not breeding are they? viscious lil wee beasties when they breeding mate, or maybe about to breed?
