  1. methinks he means see them all at the same time side/side... lol i know what he means, but its still a good design
  2. maybe try blocking out the sides of the tank, and minimising movement around it, dont know where abouts you have it set up, but alot of movement can put some fish of IME. +1 for hiding places for the female, keep up with blood worms/ whiteworms... try upping the temp abit? try leaving them for a couple weeks then do a big water change? the fresh water can be a stimulus... just some ideas to try out
  3. you sure he means the mozzie larvae or the little black dots?? can you confirm darkfur?
  4. been in a few times and thought it was you sharn, but never said anything incase i was wrong, lol im the guy who wanted the choclate gouramis a few weeks back...

  6. i have a big pleco, and i have been actively siphoning out his detrital constitutionals... i also have propagating mix as a substrate, and lots of plants... so i could by all means just leave it and let the plants use it up? if so that would be great! no more gravel vacs!!!
  7. my last power bill was 150 bux, for 2 people in a well insulated house using no heaters all winter, only hotwater bottles... and i have one ~250l tank... something sound wrong there? cos i thik it does!
  8. i just have a peice of wood off the beach that i boiled etc, but it is SOOO choka-block full of tannins that after bout 3 or 4 months now it still makes my water a lovely golden brown colour... only problem is that all my friends just think my tank is dirty... then try explaining that the fish like it like that and it makes thier colour better and they get the glazed over look ->

  12. but then clean is what you keep them in.... if you left, say cheese out to get maggots, the resultant maggots would only have some cheese on them, and therefore wouldnt bo so...unclean? maggots have been used for centaries in medical feild to get rid of Necrotizing fasciitis (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necrotizing_fasciitis) and to get dead skin etc out of major wounds. they only eat dead flesh you see, and leave teh living flesh alone, thereby cleaning the wound and stopping gangrean or other infections from causing the need for amputation etc... ah, lovely maggots.....

    Lighting

at the moment i have my lights on for about 6 hours from 4-10, and a cap of flourish every other day, and my plants seem to be doing ok with just that, but then it might just be my plants... or im a lucky blighter, which is likely  all i can say is that youll learn what you need through experience more than what anyone can tell you, its a good start, but every tank will be different, so experiment with what you have! 8)
  16. agree with whetu.... boarding isnt much better! but at least me and my girl have a lovely place to ourselves, thats close to anything we need, and no flatties having raging parties on a wednesday when we have to be up at 5.30 for tech/work... so theres your solution phoenix! get a girlfriend!
  17. they are AWESOME guitars, and are great for entry-level players and beginners... i might suggest (at the chance of getting shot down by some purists) that getting a classical or acoustic would be a good starting move, the frets are wider, the strings wider, and if you dont hold a perfect chord it doesnt emphasize it, so is good for confidence! they are alot less damaging to your fingers too... (how many times have i cheesewired my fingers on my electric!) also cheaper and wont annoy the neighbors...... as much  if you say to her that she should learn on the classic/acoustic before she gets the electric itl give you time to save for a good 1 like the fender, but will also mean that you wont be left with a expensive ornament if it turns out to be just a phase and a fad at the moment...
  18. wow.... so jealous right now! looks like you guys have had an amazing time! :bounce:
