  6. thats the problem! it was in kiwi pets at fraser cove... with thier divided tanks, although its not too big atm (maybe 10-15cm) if it is Acanthicus hystrix its going to get real big sometime, and judging from the facts below, i doubt theyd know what it is or the potential size, and sell it to a little girl with a 40x20x20 plastic aqua one... whilst here better add i spent bouwt 20 mins wandering around the place before offered service (they were having too good a chat by the counter) they had khuli spelt " coolie banded loach" ALL the tanks for sale are plastic.... except 1, labeled for reptiles.. schooling fish (glass catfish, panda cory, emerald eye rasbora) singularly in a tank... and to think i tried to get a job there and they declined me...

  9. i just wish that they came in smaller sizes so that i could put small amounts in at a time without being worried about over-ferting my small plants
  10. i had similiar when i was trying to breed mine, but that was after putting them into another tank (was cleaned etc before hand) still dont know what caused it to this day. good luck sorting it out mate
  11. peice of pie to make your own stand. i got quoted $1.69/m of untreated 2"x4", which you make the structure out of, then clad it with whatever you like, mdf, ply, rough sawn texture 2000 (at $86 a peice!!! i nearly had a heart attack) basically take everything you know about building something square/ rigid. it not that hard, if you like ill email you a template i am going to use when i get round to building mine.

  15. summing up.... formaldehyde(sp)/ formalin (sp) = carcinogenic vapours and should be avoided contact... (not for aquarium dosing but can be used to prevent cross-contaminations as a dip, not a soak..) melafix= possibly toxic/ carcinogenic.... questions as to its possible validity stress coat = aloe vera may possibly damage gills.... questions to possible validity rock salt/ tonic salts = may be dangerous to certain species of fish... so basically.... were all nailed to a post in terms of anything we do has possible side effects to fish or the user, and as such different solutions may be appropriate to different people in different circumstances, and as long as you know how to handle the different chemicals that you want to use some work and some may not.... sounds like life in general to me! lol

  17. hiccups are a spasm of your diaphragm, to get rid of them is the same as a normal spasm, exercising the full range of motion, so you breathe in as far as you can go, even through a hiccup if you have one, hold your breath, then exhale fully, then inhale again fully etc etc for bowt 5 mins or so... i never get hiccups anymore, cos i do this from the 1st one... as for the pain, its your muscles tightening, the fight or flight instinct pumps masses of addrenaline into your system (from your adrenal glands near your kidneys) which causes your muscles, esp in your chest, (running or fighting your gonnna need alot of air and blood pumping) to tense and get ready for action, when this action doesnt come, such as when you realise that there is no immediate danger, your muscles will take abit of time to come down off edge, esp since your usually sitting down using low o2 and activity after these computer generated frights.... mum always said i shoulda been a doctor...

    L48????

L numbers are usually 3 digits after the L... http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... ies_id=629 that is the one you are talking about?? L048, Scobinancistrus cf. pariolispos where i am talking about L083, Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps, also listed as L165. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... ies_id=148 which i have seen plenty of around, so, being a close match to your L048 looks wise, if that what you were after, i thought it would be a good substitute
