  7. have 2 senegals, 1 albino and 1 grey around the 20 - 22cm mark, the grey has grown rapidly and is now bigger than the albino, both fed the same they spend a lot of time together side by side nestled in the java moss and fern are the albinos slower growing than the normals
  8. can understand where your coming from Yarimochi, i spent 13 years working for circuses, loved the animals and the life but eventually couldn't put up with the indifference and abuse that went on from some of the owners. don't let them kill your passion as well
  9. i have 2 grey senegals about 100mm that i can't put with my pair of larger ones, open to offers
  10. its a pity your beardie killed a blue tomgue 8) sometimes our beardies sit on the blues back under the heat lamp as i said before you, need to try this in stages and make sure you watch the interaction between your animals. a small enclosure with no hidey holes puts them in each others space all the time small gaps under rocks or logs will give the bluey a chance and elevated branches gives the beardies an escape route
  11. nice group of clowns or is that A circus of clowns or a crackup of clowns
  12. Litoria raniformis, ( Southern Bell Frog) is around in north island locations during day mostly in hiding does most hunting at night from what i know usually in same locations
  13. the SPCA do act on pet shops, but it is hard for them to find a "Qualified" person to inspect the fish, birds or other unusual animals obvious cases of neglect can be spotted by a layman, but if that is explained away by a "power cut" or other occurence beyond their control they cannot act if enough people complain over a long time period action can be taken a notice to clean up your act will be given and if this is done in a specified time period then no further action can be taken unless these are repeated offences bring it to the attention of the shop owner or manager and even a written complaint to head office can have a better result
  14. it will depend on the temperament of the blue tongue, we have a female who bites everything
  15. Similar species . Litoria aurea ( Golden Bell Frog) has a smooth back, Litoria raniformis, ( Southern Bell Frog) has a warty back. Both frogs Adult length: 55-100mm Whistling Tree Frog mainly brown and grows to 30-40mm
  16. you up for another Jardini ? too BIG? can resize
  17. Hi Fishandchips and Warren im not trying to be an alarmist over the thickness of your tank in our breeding setup i have some tanks i would consider probably too thin for their size, tanks are old ones as well but in the aquarium display all the tanks are thicker than needed as a safety factor for the general public and insurance purposes in the home your tank probably has less chance of taking an unforeseen knock from some outside force 10mm glass on a tank 915mm(Long)x410mm(Wide)x500mm(High) would be overkill, 8mm with bracing should suffice
  18. did the same with a 2.4 x 900 x 900 i made too warren with same result no breakage, 2 years later friends horror of a kid threw a small metal truck at front glass of tank, result bang all on the floor, a half drowned kid and 1 inch of salt water on the lounge floor so now i err on the side of caution
  19. i agree with barrie, i was taught to think of glass as a liquid under tension so the more force you put it under, ie: hydraulic pressure, the smaller the tap to break the tension, i have gotten away with a lot in fishkeeping but eventually have come to the conclusion it is better to be safe than sorry
  20. i think bell frogs mature in their second season i can't remember ours croaking in their first year
