At least her hubby and son are OK but shes due in a month Next years going to be great I tell you
  8. as an empolyer, I would prefer to employ a person that could do the 2 and with accuracy
  9. my last word on this is that this statement dosnt single out one branch of Animates but states Animates as a company meaning all Animates stores. How can anyone make a statement like that if they (later) say they have only been to one store? I dont mean to give Cricketman a hard time as Im only trying to point out a theme that WE ALL do with bashing anything like this. Animates is there as a general pet store just as the warehouse is there as a general good store. If you want better advice on say eletronics, you would go to a specialised eletronics store. People on here ask for my advice on glass and they make up their own minds if they decide to take that advice or not, carpenters also offer advice on glass as do your local hardware store but they are not specialised. Who is likely to give the better advice? If your unwell you go to a Doctor then to a specialist, yes the Dr refers you maybe but hopefully you get the point. The end result of this could possibly be that Animates decide to close down and that could well mean that less fish are imported and at a greatly increased price. Please, before laying into Animates (or any other chain store) think about what they are there for and maybe when you want specialised information or help, seek advise form specialised experts in that field. Again, its not my intention to give Cricketman a hard time or anyone else so I am sorry if he (or anyone else) is offeneded
  10. Im dont mean to give you a hard time but it comes back to the same old thing. Double or tripple the price and you can afford to pay more another angle is that who in this world think they are being paid what they are worth? "know my knowledge is worth" at least $500 per hour and when I get that it will be worth $1000 per hour The thing about these types of thread is that they generalise too much and do harm to a lot of possibly good staff that worth there. For all I know, the person that knows about the dogs their may well be the top person in Auck on them. There seems to be no doupt that the retailers that specialise are normally far better because they have all got great knowledge in what is a small field but thats not what Animates is there for ? I deal from HHF for 99% of my needs as they look after me with specialised knowledge. I dont care what things costs as I can either afford to buy it or I cant but if I need something for the cat of the cage birds, I go to Animates as they have the selection I need. To be honest, after 2 weeks in quarinteen, I dont feel Animates can be held accountable. Their recomendations, on the other hand, may not have been as you would have hoped and maybe they should have suggested that you eith bring in the fish so they could see them or to take them to a vet (or third party). This is where HHF have an advantage as being specialised, they have far greater knowledge in there field
  11. fiction is a great way to get bored and sleep, Never been able to read the stuff Enjoy auto biographies most and study up on what ever subject is my favorite at the time. read plenty on the solar system (almost all of Patrick Moores), cricket, rugby, bowls (more the head space thing) Tech books on my trade and even the odd killi book

    Tail Clamping?

I havnt noticed any problems with Annulatus and funny enough, they are one that I dont keep salt with With notho fry, Ive started keeping the fry in water with a bit of meth blue with great success. daily water changes slowly reduce the meth blue and within a week to 10 days, the danger period has passed and so has the meth blue BTW, did you ever breed C. Whitei?

    Tail Clamping?

Andrew what are your thoughts on salt with the killis you have had in the past? Ive found that 1 level teaspoon per 4 litres staves off velvet
  20. I have always used NZC but to be honest, the courier post is within 150meter of the NZC so I cant be bothered with the phone call
  21. 2 things come to mind head in sand and none so blind
  22. Jim NZ Couriers in Rosebank Rd refused to carry them last time (about 2 weeks ago) I tried to point them in the direction of these threads that showed that they would but with no luck. It was a definate no (And very rudely as well) I had used them for ages with no problems at all. These were going to the south Island. Courier post took them with no problems
  23. happy you and the girls enjoyed it Now, I too hope you get some luck, you've been a member for a while and no killis Remember the Korthausae? Ive hatched about 20 more now so maybe.....

    true or false?

it totally depends on the type of Killi you get Standard mop spawner will sometimes breed over peat but will rearly dig into it. Peat spawners will try to disturb the gravel so that the eggs are covered
