  1. None of the local glass companies can get it for you? If your coming to Auckland let me know and Im can get a piece in for you
  2. the silicone can still be wet on the inside In fitting frameless showers with a track width of 18mm, I have still come accross silicone that is wet in the middle 4 weeks after being installed If its wet, it needs to expel fumes to dry (this is how it dose dry of course) These fumes may or may not harm your fish. It would be possible to have these fumes desolve into you water over a period of time and possibly slowly poisen the fish. The fumes may also either not be absorded or may not be harmfull, this is the descision you need to make
  3. you are 100% correct as per usual though, a lot will know better than those in the trade
  4. hands up those of you that didnt realise we had 14 specie here Thanks for the congrats
  5. just a thought Ryan (omnimix) had to go out of his way and come over to site these so he deserves special thanks
  6. silicone giveing away is a sign that its past its best by date so take the thing apart! Its not too hard and if you want you could make it a how to do thing My PC is down so Ive been woking of my lap top (so I dont have easy access) but feel free to do and ask as it may be of use as a sticky in the DIY section? 10. Can you just see the reaction nowdays if you were to keep a bag like that in the fridge Probably have the health police around My son in law was horrified when we gave the kids a drink from a bush stream at Coromandel over Christmas! Kids loved it and wanted to get some "of that nice water" to take home
  11. I was always under the impression that the 1000D was quite a few steps up Simon, have a look at getting a +2 filter that fits on the front of your existing lens. Costs not too much and will allow great macro
  12. when I had fish all those years ago, I had never seen or heard of black worms so just thought that thats what I had here Either way, the fish love them
  13. yep, a $500 dollar 2nd hand camera for a what $3000? plus
  14. I belive they are tubiflex but thats from my memory 25 years ago.( use to by them and store them in the fridge) When I found some in my tank in the lounge, I gathered as many as I could and they seem to breed OK I raise them in a small tank with a bit of grave on the bottom with a heater( they only reason I have a heater is that the only tank I had available was a twin tank)
  15. Zev My comment was meant to be a bit tonge in cheek
  16. all DSLR cameras will do macro The macro setting on your camera just tells the canera to focus on the closer subjects but for best results, its best to have your camera on full manual and of course, have the rite lens's. Personally, I use the standard lens (18~55) for most of my work but do also add a plus filter I have 4 of them (+1, +2, +4 and +10) This is from a 400D
  17. I actually keep a tank and grow these for food for the fish
  18. these are great food for your fish, why not gather them up and cultivate them?
  19. Just a thought, do you do a lot of photoagraphy? If you do, great but if not, you may well have just as much fun from 450 or 500D's for a lot less money? My 400D does everything I want/need plus a lot more
  20. nice I think you should buy it and if your not happy, you can swap it for my 400D
