  1. that happens naturally ... well, it does with me anyway
  2. I dont think it will much harm but to be sure I would feed him some salt and keep an eye out for Whitespot. I doupt that he will get fin/limb rot
  3. at Christmas, we are away for at least 3 weeks and the fish were fed twice in that time... plants, I cant comment on as they are only there for the fish to hide in and act as food if they get really hungry
  4. I have some tanks a lot higher than 22 and in summer some tank reach over 30 so a higher temp shouldnt be a problem

    Condensation

when the outside temp is say 26 degs, how cool is it inside? At my place in summer its a nice cool 18 My house is quite small and single leveled and I only need one outlet but the cost of my heatpump/air con was also $3800 with our weekly power use the same (in winter) as a bottle of gas for the gas heater If I was to move homes, I would put an air con unit in before I moved in Warm in winter and cool in summer

  11. Interesting indeed Today mine laid 22 from a trio after a few days with nothing... wonder if its to do the faze of the moon... serious thought as birds and fishing in general have a colse relationship to the moon
  12. I can promise you that you will not be able to see the egg while the pot is still in the tank... they are small and clear but when you notice the peat spreding all over the tank floor you will be getting eggs Dont forget to siphon the bottom of the tank as there will be eggs in there as well I posted that stuff to you tonight and the next clearance is 9am Sunday so hopefully you will get the info on Monday

    Whiteworms

I got mine from Alan and have so many at times that they almost open the lid and climb into the tanks I have another culture that is in a small poly box and thats now going well also. Funny enough, a month ago, I thought I had lost them and Matt brought some around to restart again but when we opened both containers, there were enough to go again. Temp is certianly the big killer and next summer I will be placing them in different positions
  17. yes they are there are two slightly different specie I dont know of many people outside the club that have them... Charlie is luck to be honest We are searching past members to see if they have any fish or eggs still around of some that were here in years gone by Im looking through 30 year old journals to try to get leads
  18. I use Jiffy pots and normally put one and a half in the container. they will kick a lot out as they spawn and you need to syphon that out as there will be eggs in that as well I squeeze the peat as hard as I can to dry it and then double bag it useing ziplock bags

    Whiteworms

    lunchon sausage
  20. leave a little plant in there... Java moss is good Remove everything else Place some boiled peat in a container and place in the tank (you may need to weigh the container down a bit) and let them do their thing for say 10 days to 2 weeks. Remove the peat and squeeze all the water out untill the peat is about the dampness of say tobacco. store at 22 to 24 degs for 20 to 26 weeks then hatch JOIN THE KILLI CLUB!!!!!!!!! and you will get all sorts of other info
  21. My sis in law has bred Rottis for ages and old Gonzo never had a probem... he was 10 years old which is old for a Rotti. She was walking him one day and snap, a dog coming the other way was no more. Both were on leashes and both had mingled before. Dont know why anyone would risk a kid (or anyone else) in the city To me, its just not worth the risk. Ive been walking up some internal stairs with the owner of a house and he said, dont worry about the dog, its been with my family all its life. Next minute I was a food source. 11 year old Collie My son in law has a collie as well that is great with 90% of everyone that comes around to their home but the dog just dosnt like some people and will take to them. The dog is walked twice a day and muzzled almost the whole time. My daughter has a 6 week old little boy that quite frankly, Im scared for. Neither my son in law or my daughter eat meal as they love animals too much and are really good caring people but is it worth the risk In my mind NO
  22. Alan When the comes I will be talking salt big time to them It would (of course) be at our risk but I think it will be worth trying at least. In the past I simply have not bred enough quickly enough and have passed on too many eggs so thats another thing I may need to talk to them about. If they could put peat in with them straight away when they arrive.
  23. No Alan but they are on the list and Ive been talking to your people and they are willing to help so in the near future (or when they next import) with a bit of luck we may get them here again. The others that they had had "disapared" so no luck there but as I said, they have been really helpfull There is a few Nothos on the list that look exciting as well
