  1. I belive that in the forseeable future, they will only be made available to members that have a solid breeding program with proven success in peat spawning. We just cant afford for these to disappare
  2. I know I shouldnt but I alway compare it to me (or children). Think about how many hours of the day you eat... kids will often not eat all day and you have to almost force them to eat while other days they eat the whole time
  3. interesting The smallest of my fry will eat BBS straight away so I would have thought Micros would be easy for them. Is it that they are not eating it or that you havnt seen them eating?
  4. the trade name for that is a "run". Its called a run as without too much encouragement, it will run all the way to the end. At any stage, it can break. When you think about it a crack need a start and a finish so without any doupt, replace the panel

    Hey All

Great to see Kyle bout time you came over for a looksee and took away some eggs isnt it
  6. No mate I studied Falcons in Ozzie and have handled them and the NZ falcon I simply ask the question as I belive that far too much is spent of over protecting things at a huge cost to things I consider more important. I DID NOT suggest killing the falcon in fact my suggestion was to remove the food source by locking the "bait"away.
  7. really good at what he does alright
  8. your on to it Ant The only thing is that Aquarium grade means it has been tested for Aquarium. Other silicones are almost definatly OK but have not been tested as it cost big dollars to test. Just as for food grade silicones, The estermated cost of having it food tested is somewhere in excess of $30,000. Now thats a lot of extra silicone you need to sell ti food places inorder to make that pay
  9. You miss my point as well How would the would be worst of if the didnt exist? Here in Waitakere, tens of thousands of dollars have been spent on makeing a crossing for a frog that is endangered. I fail to see how the world would change if the frog didnt exist Should be not be consistant and spend thousands on some insect or weed I suppose that what Im trying to get across is that very few people want things to become nonexistant but how much do you spend on saving these types of things when people cant get opperations that could save their life or our kids cant get the education that is needed
  10. interesting comment he pigeons are replacable the falcon not someones pets Vs a killing machine that does no good at all Mind you, some think that kids are also replaceable by the look of cases in court
  11. georgeous What isnt fair (speaking as a parent) is that our kids think its not fair and that they dont appreciate what we do and how we go out of our way to make their lives good and we get little in return

    is it true

Scheeli are kept by a total of 5 members and there are only 8 males and 16 females plus fry around so I doupt that they have ever been seen on TM As so few people have/breed them, Im breeding now myself to make sure they dont dissapare
  13. note the word racing A lot of the NZ racing pigeons would sell in auction for upwards of $1000 and some 5 times that so there is a lot of value in them to the right person Yes hard to prove but they are race horses of the skys and just as much training and care goes into them. I use to spend at least 4 hours per week day plus taking them on training tosses then all day Saturday and half a day on Sundays
  14. just as a by thought for those that suggested shooting pigeons The maximum fine for shooting racing pigeons in flight/race is $10,000
  15. Most falcons hunt for sport/fun. By putting other "meals" out for them des nothing more than allow them to breed more and to stay in your area. We have doves as a bussiness (www.weddingwings.co.nz) and the only way to discourage predators is to lock the doves away so there is nothing for them to wait arround for. Your birds will fly better and be healthier for it as well. Perigan falcons in Ozzie are suppost to be endangered in NSW. The DOC people over there said there were only a total of 12 in NSW but in west Sydney (enrith) I watched 13 attacking racing pigeons and just killing them for fun. Some of the racing pigeons were worth over $2000 each. The falcon will take the bird in mid air and go to a nearby field where they will pick it untill dead and leave it on the ground to go and have another score. Lock you birds away and release them once a day for excersize then lock them up again is my advice but do not encourage the falcons by feeding them. Pity you couldnt find the next and keep disturbing it so they no longer felt safe in your area

    MicroWorms

The Grindals are 500 times bigger Micros at their largest would get no bigger than 2 or 3 mm in length
  17. $50 per meter is cost when buying stock sheets so your getting a good deal when buying stock sheets. Most silicones are sealants and need a bit of a gap to work at full strenght but I, like you, dont leave a gap either
  18. Glass merchant Like it but get dissapointed with peoples short cuts and not doing things correctly and unfortunatly, in my trade, everyone thinks they can glaze or advise on glass without doing any homework. Dream job... nothing I enjoy as that would take away the fun from doing them after hours but whatever it is, I dont or would never want to rely on handouts and always produce something that pays my owe way in the world. There are simply too many bludgers and people that think the world owes them a living. In 40 years I (or my family) have never taken a thing from the government other than education and health.... Im really proud of that
  19. The cost depends on if they have second hand glass As a glass merchant spending about $300,000 per year on glass, that piece would cost me more than what some people are quoting. If your buying new glass, anything in the $70 to $90 would be a great price with the retail cost being somewhere $130 plus GST I dont stock or sell second hand glass as storage is not worth it and it takes up valuable space that new glass could use. Afterall, if you have some nice new doors installed and want glass in them, the last thing you would want is scratched second hand glass in them

    Mops or Moss?

if your serious about breeding... mops without a doupt. You can see and collect the eggs untill you have enought, work out when they shoud hatch and see any that are no good
