  1. They (Dageti) are producing more males than females at the moment which is the problem... may only be because of the heat of summer but I think I have 2 females left now so Ive just put them down to breed I dont breed big numbers, just keep them turning over so I dont loose them so its something that you may think of doing? Are you a member of the club?
  2. the Dageti is becoming a bit rearer now and females are harder to come by so dont be afraid to breed them (or any of the others) Some say that trios are better as it is less strain on the females (when they have a head ache) but other people say the the "spare" female will just follow behind eating the eggs Where did you get them all from?
  3. Adodge I bought several nets from the USA as I thought they would be usefull and I couldnt get any here but to be honest, I think its easier using linen and just chuck it in the was once a week Evil I dont know why I dont feed the lot except that I do feed a lot of BBS to the small containers and I suppose I wasnt happy with that much seawater going into them? I dont really know
  4. Hope this works The bottle on the left is warming, number 2 is BBS that is say 12 hours old, number 3 is 24 hours old and number 4 is about to be used as it is about 36 hours old. I syphon the BBS through the pillow slip and catch the water in a jug as it drips through Feed the BBS to the fry (and some adults) then put 80 to 90% of the water back in the bottle to rewarm before adding more eggs 12 hours later and starting again The hardest thing is remembering which bottle is next. It is honestly a problem sometimes. To solve this I have the bottles numbered (on the outside of the tanks) from 1 to 3 and I put a peg on the one that is to be used next. That way you always move from left to right and replace the bottle your using with the bottle thats warming. The proble with not numbering is that I use to sometimes use say the one on the right at night and the 2nd right in the morning instead of going back to the start,. Note the way that a airhose goes in the top and down to the base of the bottle then another air hose starts at the top of the same bottle and goes to the bottom of the second and so on In reading this, I would swear that I have had a few too many tonight but I havnt had a drop If I can answer any questions Im happy to
  5. Spidersweb I use a pillow slip but part of and old sheet or any linen would work I will resize some photos that I have sent by email and try to post them My system was a modifided idea that Stu (Caserol) showed me
  6. Yes Ron I agree but the systen I have is easier if the bottle can stand as I place them in a spare tank for warmth. I use just the one hose going from one bottle to the next
  7. I dont even turn the bottles upside down but have 3 with eggs going all the time (12 hours apart) and a spare bottle warming
  8. I use only sea water and it can be reused
  9. my stands are welded steel and are 4 high. I have left not enough room above the tanks and putting my fat arms in them is a pain in the nether region the bottom tanks are very hard to maintain and water changes are done by running a syphon hose ouside. PM me you email and I will send a photo of the stands to you to have a look at first if your in Auckland, get in touch and come around to have a look
  10. Matt the entire other side of the garage is Brendas as well.... I plan on taking her shecave at some stage when I have enough guts and can afford my health to suffer for a while. Wok... Your wife has you very well trained indeed and I now know why you had to rush away from the AGM... to cook her dinner
  11. the best thing without a doupt is to move as much as possible into the garage. This has a lot of things going for it as shemales dont like entering our mancave areas so will never know whats within those dingy walls covered in spider webs and smelly food containers (You need plenty of micro worm cultures) yet pretty things come from the cave and appare in your single tank in the house. Another plus is that it gets you from under her feet and out of the house/kitchen so it wont interrupt her cooking and baking. I stand back and await the beating
  12. this will have most of you wondering but music "Journey to the Center of the World" by Rick Wakeman or "Out There" by the same guy Movie Kellys Heros or JC Super Star... loved the musical and no, Im not religous Ive been a fan of Wakemans for years and met him in Ozzie a few years ago. I still email him from time to Time and get all my CDs signed. Nothing is too much bother to him a photo of my daughter with a shirt he signed for her... she use to play keyboard a few years ago when he signed it for herhttp://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b319/Glaza/100_0035.jpg?t=1208415856
  13. Almost all will try to breed but wether they are able to produce furtile eggs is another matter
  14. Fundulopanchax Gardneri Aquarium Strain now what specie do you want next?
  15. he picked up some from me at the weekend but I was a bit crook and may have been confused and miss led him Wish I could say it was due to the consumption of certian liquids but alas it wasnt
  16. and the P82 looks almost exactly the same as the Blue (or Aquarium strain of Gardneri)
  17. put a heap of Mountian Minnows in it
  18. I think you should come around and have a look at what I have Im in Titirangi/Glen Eden
  19. wives or Micro worms?
  20. about 10 minutes depending on wether Brenda is home as it stinks
  21. your still missing the point The Killi club is possibly the largest fish club The fish that I gave to a shop had all gone in less than 2 weeks They normally have no problem selling them for $20 to $30 a pair There is a demand out there but if shops dont stock them, it leaves us no choice than to sell them privately and there fore take business away from the lfs I do however concede that fish are often sold to shops that are too young and there fore not showing them selves as well as they could but they still sell In the last 12 months (well since June) I have spent over $8000 at shops on gear and foods. Almost all was spent at a shop that does stock Killis but in the end, when I asked this guy to get some filters for me, he never phoned back so now days I buy at shops that stock Killis when they can but I just dont have the same loyalty. HWFF has knowledge and a good range of things but when it comes to the interest I have, they dont have that knowledge and seem just not interested so how do they know what Im after. My last on this subject
  22. Good on you David Im pleased no one sells guppys or Discus privately
  23. David Yes, that happens to members but with only say 40 or 50 members throughout NZ and then only if they want those types of Killis, I would think that not too much business is lost. A few months ago, I offered to GIVE them Killis to try to stimulate interest (6 types) but the female I spoke to said they dont sell well and that Albany had them. I asked what type and she answered.... Killifish, She didnt realise that there were 1000s of different types. We sold them the next phone call we made (to another shop) and they had gone in under 2 weeks and they want more
  24. Only problem with Hollywoods is that they wont stock Killis and seem to have little knowledge of them
  25. go to the glass merchant on fraser st and ask him if you can buy some lead strip If you come to auckland, let me know and i will give you some
