  1. I remember reading a thread on another forum about this and so many parents recommending animal flea treatment. Not even a vet one, one of the cheap supermarket ones. Yuck.
  2. Glass eels (elvers) have been brought in before, listed as glass kuhlis. These would be dangerous to native fish/invertebrates if they got into the water ways.
  3. I really like the tui, that'd look cool on a black t-shirt!
  4. Looking at her wall doesn't tell her much tho, she's better to look at the homepage so she can see the updates from family etc. Caryl, your "wall" or profile page is a page that shows everything you have posted and what people have directed at you personally. And that stuff comes up on the homepage anyway. I hide applications or annoying people who post too much crap, like mcrudd is suggesting. If anyone sends you 'gifts' for you farm or whatever, you can block the application so you won't see them ever again.
  5. Yeah, I can't figure out what the black bit is? Do you have a large picture of the design without it being obscured by the cartoon man?
  6. Ohh, I've heard of him. Where's he gone? Off on another research trip? Can't wait to do the paper, I'm focusing on marine bio but the insect one was suggested to me as well.
  7. Hrmmm, I kinda got distracted over the last month & now the specimens I'd been collecting are a bit scody looking. However, I'm going back to uni & doing a paper on insect biology. I'm so excited, I'll learn how to properly collect and mount them. 30% of the assessments involves making an insect collection. So I can send any double ups or whatever. And could potentially be keen for swapsies. That doesn't start til September though.
  8. On the plus side, if you sell all the unsuitable fish you can use that money to buy more! My old flatmate once brought an established tank, she ended up selling all the fish it came with (eg 2 oversized plecos, a lone, large clown loach, an aggressive electric yellow) and she nearly made back the original cost of the setup! And then bought smaller and more suitable fish.
  9. I did sent them invites ;-) You guys should totally come along, even if it's just for the first hour, to see Donna's turtles. p.s. Would you still like to adopt my froggie?
  10. Lmao. We discussed this the other night, P44 is it's own special gender.

    Hey Sam!

    What is this??
  12. What's this about duct tape melting poly?? I use duct tape around the sides to keep it looking neater and stop baby picking at the poly. Haven't noticed any melting. Should I be worried?
  13. Psh, I already linked to that post.
  14. From what I've seen on here, they can be tricky. Are you willing to put in lots of time and money? I don't have them myself, but do a search on this forum and you will find all sorts of information. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=45424&hilit=seahorses This thread will be a good start.
  15. THREADJACK MUCH YOU GUISE??? To people who are actually planning on attending, feel free to bring any pruned plant stems you don't need. Looks like we could have a bit of plant swap. Leftovers to be fed to the turtles.
  16. An old credit/eftpos/gift card works great.
  17. Details for the next Chch Totally Tanked meeting are: When: Sat July 3rd Time: 5pm onwards Where: Donna's house (please pm me for address) Please bring a plate of finger food to share. Everyone welcome
  18. I do like the idea of working with pet stores, rather than a legislation based answer. HFF's note is a good start. I like your post Cricketman. The reason I didn't post something informative on the auction is that in my experience, when I have given advice to people on matters like this they either don't care or tell me to mind my own business. I've become a cynic. Working on thinking more positive, but I'm jaded
  19. Ugh, look at these morons --> http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =295445212 They think it's funny they killed so many fish. Shame on trademe for putting it on the front page
  20. Stuart K??? My friend is that you?? (This is Robyn)
  21. I'd really like it to be something our club and other clubs too hopefully can look into helping solve. When friends see my tank, they often say things like "Oh cool tank. I've kept goldfish before but they always died so I don't think I'd manage something like yours!" They don't actually realise that goldfish need a large tank and filter, just cos the common perception is that they can be kept in a bowl. It could even be beneficial for pet stores to get educated, they'd sell more items AND people wouldn't be put off fishkeeping cos their fish keep dying, so could be more likely to get MTS  Anyone who feels they'd like to take action, bring it up at your next meeting or email your pres/delegate to pass on to Jennifer. Let's see who's keen & figure out what we can do!
