  1. We have some small 2ft ish tanks and a couple of small filters here in Belfast if anyone needs them. Pick up only sorry as our car is trapped in the Farmers car park in town. I can also baby sit any tropicals if anyone needs a safe place for hem to stay Donna - I could probably keep a few turtle here for a while if you can get them out to me
  2. Sorry for the delay in an update! I clean my tanks once every three weeks or so for the fish (a 3ft tank and a 2ft tank) and the frogs get cleaned out at least every week (2ft tank with their rocks getting washed off more often when they poop on them) I don't clean the filters on the fish tanks every time i do a water change and the frog tank doesn't have a filter. No extra chemicals are added by me and no new plants or rock etc have been added to any of the three tanks. The only common factor I could think of was the water. I don't even use the same bucket to transfer the water between the fish tanks and the frog tank. The good news is I have done other water changes since my first post and haven't had anymore problems.
  3. Ive lost a few fish (and a couple of frogs) in the last month after doing water changes on the tanks - Just wondering if anyone else in ChCh has had problems after water changes since the earthquakes? I read somewhere that extra chemicals are being put in the water since then and if this could be the problem. :nilly:
  4. Caryl's right - i just measured it properly - 120cm long  I would love to adopt your froggie and have the perfect wee tank for it. I have lots of Java fern growing in my fish tank if you would like to do a swap. Thanks for the invite but I wont be able to make it this time around. Let me know when the next one is though!
  5. I actually have a proper turtle tank in the garage (that i used to keep frogs in a while ago) but it's only around 3ft (ish)
  6. Yes 6ft. It has a heating element that fits the entire length of the tank so I was thinking of possibly making it into a home for a beardie one day.
  7. Just a wee update to say that the last frog died yesterday It seems that everything I did to help them just slowed down the spread of sickness and not cure it. Does anyone have any suggestons for my 2m x 50cm tank?
  8. Thanks herperjosh. I had wondered about that and have put more earthdown in the tank instead of gravel. I have also moved the tank inside (was in a conservitory) and the death rate has slowed down rapidly (fingers crossed that its stopped!)
  9. Thanks for the replies. @ Insect Direct They are all getting weak and are hardley able to move before they die and their little white tummies are turning pink so its sounding like it might be chytrid fungus perhaps... Is there any thing I can do to prevent this happening again. Ive now lost all my whistlers (the were my favourites ) and nearly all of the babies ive raised from tadpoles this year. At least I still have my adult frogs. Anyways I was going to post a piccie of the offending tank last week and I forgot - here it is: (apologies for the poor photography)
  10. Thanks bdspider Yes I am aware of the size differences but at the moment the green frogs are only babies and are smaller that the 1 remaining whistler. They have another much larger home to move into when they size up a bit more I will take some photos tomorrow and get them on here for you
  11. Hi everyone. Long time reader, first time poster I have a small terrarium set up that is home to a few adult whistling tree frogs and some Southern and Golden Bell frog babies. In the last few weeks i have had two of my three whistlers die and three of the other die. I noticed a couple of them went off their food and had trouble moving shortly before they died. I have had the tank set up for about 6 months now without any previous problems. Could there be an infection/fungus spreading through the tank and is there anything I can do about it?
