I have 8 smallish (were smaller) in my 214 litre tank and if/when I get a pair I will reduce to just the pair as at full size 2 will be sufficient in the tank. IMO the neons will be dinner as soon as they will fit into the angels mouths and your gourami is likely to lose its fins to any nipping that will go on.

You can get Levamisole from HFF. I have used Kisuri - a single treatment only and ended up getting a script for Metro. Perhaps I should have used more.

Not sure if this is any help. I had an issue a while back with our switchboard circuit tripping and the electrician put it down to overloading when everything was on (the everything being all my tanks and equipment on the same circuit). In fact it turned out to be a damaged wire in one of the cords. Is it possible that one of your heaters might be faulty?

Perhaps no one answered because those who viewed your question don't know. Not much point in putting on an angry face! Some plecs may cross breed. As far as your hoplo and upside down catfish go, by using google I found that they come from two different families so that tells me it is unlikely. It also tells me that upside down catfish have never been bred in captivity so that makes it extremely unlikely.

Why stock and sell something that will die and tell people. Anyway I would expect that being a labyrinth fish like siamese fighters, they require a bit more consideration as far as tank mates go in a community situation. Gourami are not beginners fish and they are certainly not for small or new set ups. If you decide to give them a go please record what you do and what happens. I might then chase you for the info so I can write a magazine article As you have done a bit of research you might be very successful. The fact of the matter is that some people can only keep certain fish and have them survive, others can keep many varieties and while they exist they could be doing much better and others should not keep fish at all

A lot of dwarf gourami do seem to suffer from internal issues. Some people seem to have no problems, others can't keep them alive. I do tend to wonder if the food these fish are fed, that is a lot of the problem. Given that most come from the wholesalers, who presumably have imported them I would expect that if your shop is giving you that sort of information, the wholesaler must have told them. I would wonder why shops stock them if this is common knowledge. Does the shop who told you this have them for sale?

How many days ago did it break? You won't get an instant reaction from fish to a filter issue unless there was something wrong in the first place or your tank is overstocked. Do a water change and add an airline. Keep up daily water changes until you get a new pump. If you live far away from a shop with replacement parts and are going to continue to keep and add to your fish and tanks you might need to consider having a spare of any electrical components.

Do you have any CUC in there?

can a 5cm bully go with a 8cm koura?
Adrienne replied to Silverdollarboy2's topic in New Zealand Natives
I don't know enough about natives to say yes but if you have no where else to put it, you will have to put it in with the bully. Once caught they can no be released back into any stream or waterway, even where you originally got it from. -
On my last phone call they have said it is officially now a lost item and if not found in 3 days they will send out the forms for me to submit a claim

For years I have used Post Haste Couriers (in fact ever since NZ Couriers refused to carry fish). Until two weeks ago there has never been an issue and I am talking hundreds of packages. Last week Auckland lost a package being delivered to me (Corals). Yesterday Auckland lost a package I was sending to Dunedin (Plants attached to driftwood so not bagged with water). At this stage they still have no idea where my parcel, and a whole lot of others which were supposed to be going to Dunedin has gone. I have been chasing around all day, being asked to phone Dunedin branch etc, when it turns out it is probably somewhere in the North Island. I am not getting into a discussion on the forums about it but if you use Post Haste, do what I should have done last evening - check that its actually on its way the day you deliver it to the courier and first thing in the morning the following day. If I had chased it up earlier - before 9am then perhaps by now I would know where it was.

That will teach me not to read your posts more slowly. Well all your photos look normal. If the fish are eating its unlikely to be a worm infestation. Angels - As for looking skinny, what are you feeding, how often and how much at a time? How many angels in what sized tank? Guppies - often (but not always), imports come in carrying a disease that they are immune to but NZ bred guppies are not. Sometimes this doesn't show up for months. If you mix the two in the same tank the NZ bred ones will die off first. This causing wasting away and as far as I know there is nothing that will treat it.

I tried the Kusuri Wormer plus when I got my discus and again when I had an issue a few weeks ago. First time was just as a precaution, second time as a treatment. No noticeable change in the condition of the fish when I used it as a treatment and yesterday I started a course of metro which requires a vet to sight the fish, diagnose and do a prescription for the stuff. I supplied quantities of information from the net on it as well. I wouldn't bother with kusuri again Will it work, I don't know, I hope so as discus at 15cm are expensive to replace. Good luck with your angels. I just fed mine and looked at them - there is a slight hollow behind their stomach and before the anal fin however you should not be seeing worms in the tank. I suspect yours have camellanus worms - have a read of this link http://www.petfish.net/kb/entry/154/

I have the black grit which while darker than the silver grit is not really all that black. If you are over this way and want to look at it in the tank before heading to stone and water world you are welcome to call in.

That tank is awesome and I think part of the awesomeness (omg did I say that word) is the simplicity of the layout. One day I will come and see it I have two angelfish - the same markings as yours and they are slowly growing. They are beautiful and more impressive that the bigger black ones I got at the same time. You could have left me more you know!

I have 5 red whiptails - 1 male, 1 female and the rest unknown, 4 albino long fin bn - 1 male, 1 female and the others unknown. Just sold my mature long fin calico female as I don't have a male for her. This section is unlikely to disappear with 3 or more of the exec passionate about their plecs Lack of traffic won't make a section disappear

Welcome to Auckland. You did well 1. finding Birkenhead 2. finding a rental that is liveable.

Add another airline or increase the one you have to aid the oxygen exchange. The bristle nose have come up to get oxygen. I think that your tank has gotten too hot during the day time or you have had an ammonia spike overnight. You could also do a water change as when there is a problem with a tank, quite often a decent water change helps.

Given that trumpet snails just don't drop dead without a reason maybe something was up with your tank. Whatever your secret was, you could make $$$$$ if you could tell all of us how to get rid of them without dosing or manually removing them.

What killed the trumpet snails?
