  1. I would like to say yes but it depends on the guppies and the fighter. I will say its a 50/50 chance. You won't know until you try it. No plants and I would say no.
  2. You could but I wouldn't recommend it unless the tank is heavily planted and there are hiding places. At some stage either the fighter or male guppies will nip at the others long fins - then retaliation will start. It is unlikely to be the fighter who starts it.
  3. I hope you have told them that now you know, they should expect a visit from MPI! What about the trade me sellers, have you asked them? You lumped them in to the same sentence. Actually then again I would rather not know!
  4. How do you know they don't have the product registered? The other week you said the same about Kusuri and sellers. I have seen the documentation that those who bring it in show - its all above board. Who are we to state something is illegal when it is being allowed to come it and those letting it in, are the very people who have access to all the necessary information. It's a very dangerous practice to make statements like that.
  5. I read another article about a person boiling live rock which he had removed from his tank. The unseen zoa or play nearly killed him and his wife and their two dogs with the fumes it was letting off. I now wear gloves but its very hard to glue with gloves on.
  6. Furan2 out of stock now and won't be back in any time soon. If anyone needs it you will have to pay for a vets visit and a script. That will make it worth more than most of the fish for sale in NZ!
  7. The amount of salt added is not going to increase the speed of getting rid of the white spot and the article is referring to sea salt which is not necessarily the same salinity as purchased salts.
  8. I agree. What did your doctor say about it?
  9. Members Chris, Fazur, Brendon & Jamie please email [email protected] as the details submitted to the FNZAS with your club membership are not sufficient to get you the newsletters, magazine etc. Thank you Adrienne Dodge FNZAS Secretary
  10. That would be perfect as being Federation Vice President you are already a financial member and able to chair any meeting that is organised.
  11. Furan is an antibiotic. It won't harm the shark but the shark will build up resistance to it. However, the disease that is in the tank may be picked up by the shark in its weakened condition. Two sharks in a tank is a no no. Mass sharks will spread the aggression. Being chased is not the issue here - that is definitely worms, I have seen it many times before. They mostly clean up leftover food so while flake will work, there would need to have been enough left over. They also graze on algae. Bloodworms if feed should be in small quantities (like 2-3) at any one time.
  12. Yes, you are looking at a minimum of 21 days in cold water which is one cycle. It is important to remember that while you can see the cysts on the fish, the treatment will not be working on the ones visible to you. The cysts need to be detached to be in a form where treatment will work. They then fall to the bottom of the tank and multiply so keep the substrate or bottom of the tank as clean as you possibly can. The idea is to break the cycle so that they cease to multiply.
  13. It's seriously malnourished and could do with worming. I would keep it separated from your other fish if you can - you don't want them getting worms from it and it doesn't need an antibiotic.
  14. Good effort. Keep us up to date with how they go.
  15. That would be great. There are funds being held for the club should it restart.
  16. Go to the search button on the top right of the page and type in mollie hunt. That will bring up a few discussions as to where they are. I gather the water is pretty hot so take gumboots. I am not certain but I think I recall a discussion about the local iwi not being terribly keen in allowing people on their land. I inherited one of the wild mollies. Plain little fish and it crossbred with one of my guppies! I gather they can be quite difficult to keep in tanks and quite a big mortality rate transporting them back.
  17. It shouldn't need to - if the surface water is being disturbed which the fx5 does (if it doesn't turn one of the outlets upwards) that will be sufficient. That is doing the same job as an air pump.
  18. 15 litres is fine for a single betta. If the betta is long finned i.e. long tail, use a low flow internal filter. Sponge filters are the best as they don't push out too much current, causing the betta to waste needless energy trying to hold itself upright against the current, and the pull of the powerhead won't cause it to get sucked in. Pop in a plant or two - artificial or real- avoid sharp edged plastic ones to prevent tail and fin tears. Similarly if you are going to put in gravel find one with rounder rather than sharper edges. For a tank that size maintenance is easier if you have a bare bottomed tank - makes sucking up waste quick and painless. What a tank is worth is relative to how many people want it and how much to pay. Livingarts comment 'as long as you are happy with it' is spot on.
