  1. I have a 90 litre tank which is now reduced to about 75 litres after my adding daltons aquatic mix (thanks so much ghostknife ) and brightwater gravel. Its 100cm x 30cm x30cm. I have planted microfolia, and a few green stem plants and have added apiece of driftwood with windelov and java moss attached (about 25cm long). I was thinking - tiny tank, tiny fish so therefore moquito raspbora and perhaps another group of small fish. What do you all think. My other option was to go to cherry barbs and I also really like killies, and mountain minnows. The tank is heated and I have a fluval 105 running on it. Lighting - none atm. The tank is in the sunroom. It will not get direct light on it but the room is well lit with natural light on fine days so I am aware there may be algae issues. I am not intending to go to T5 lighting on this tank in the near future.
  2. my house - I have a few spare pieces!
  3. no more than they do when they nibble up the corners of the tank and around any bracing. You may find a more closed in i.e. 3 sides cave will work better as they like a tightly closed in area to breed in. Its then just a case of making sure they don't get stuck
  4. Happy birthday Diver21 - :bounce: :bounce: all the christmas babys are having their birthdays
  5. Furan2 is good. If you don't have any on hand use rock salt in the tank tonight or even methylene blue but put the methylene blue directly on the area i.e. take the fish out of the tank to do it. If you don't do anything, then its pretty certain the fish will die.
  6. I would have expected it to up to temperature fully by the morning. Is your tank covered or is it in a drafty cold place?
  7. if you get hold of some can you let me know where you got it from. I haven't been able to source any up here for a long while.
  8. I get what you are referring to Alan. Maybe it was just the angle she hit the pushbike on but obviously the electric must be structurally weak.
  9. will check it, will get one of my children to stand on it. If it doesn't straighten out I'll ditch the piece of wood and get something else to replace it with.

    help

well done Barrie - I was thinking the same thing. I've looked at your post but only because it was you otherwise I go to the random titles only every few days to have a look.
  11. I have a metal tank stand (nothing remarkable in that!) There is a piece of board that came with it that is brand new however it is not dead flat (particle board). If I use a piece of polystyrene between the tank (90 litres) and the board is the tank likely to be damaged or will the piece of board straighten out. The board comes up at one end or if I turn it over sits with both ends on the metal and the middle rises. Is there a good way to flatten the board? Thanks
  12. mmmmm.... I hit a pedestrian a few years ago. She came running around the corner looked to her left and ran out in front of my car. The excuse was that in China they drive on the other side of the road. Anyway Alan - look on the bright side - things can only get better. For all of you in ChCh I think daily of what it must be like living not knowing when the next jolt is going to be. I was born in ChCh and lived there 24 years and only remember one earthquake in that time. Maybe its memory fade
  13. If the trip if going to your grandfathers then I'll do my best to come too.
  14. IMO no. Sometimes you need to use something stronger than an herbal treatment and I think that this is the time.

  18. Hey Josh - you do know that some of these are the grandparents of your guy don't you?
  19. Yes!!! Come along and have a look at all the pets there, but especially to meet us
  20. IMO its not a good idea to do a change with discus in the tank. They are very sensitive to particles in the water and if you irritate their gills ime you will pay the price for it. Much much better to take them out of the tank and wait for it to resettle before putting them back. No reason they can't live in a plastic bin overnight even if you keep the temp up.
  21. I love the royals, but I would have to get rid of a lot of my other bottom dwellers to make space for one.
