  1. You need to drop it off at the Post Haste Depot. As late in the day as possible, from memory they close about 5.45pm. Cost is based on cubic measurement size and weight. My biggest piece of advice is to take the correct amount of cash and an eft pos card. Sometimes the extols machine is not working, other times they have no change. Label the box live fish. As always you will need to sign the docket saying that you realise you are sending at our own risk.
  2. I had to go to Nosh (gourmet health food store) to get escargot shells here in Auckland. $25 for 50 shells! Did the shellies appreciate expensive shells, why NO!!
  3. Where abouts in Central Otago - asking because I have extended family scattered down there.
  4. What are you feeding them? What sort of dwarf gourami and do you have anything else in the tank with them ie fish. If so, what type?
  5. Yes I read that. What is the temperature gauged on - the heater, the strip that sticks on the outside of the aquarium or a proper thermometer. We all know the strips fail after a while and that some heaters dont run at the temperatures they are set at. Its just a suggestion from a proven fact.
  6. http://www.kiwimoneysaver.com/Pages/energysavings.aspx have a look through this - you might save money on more than power
  7. when you say (in your post on wednesday at 2.12pm) that one bristlenose came outside and was sucking on the glass - do you mean his head was up out of the tank. My common brown bristlenose which I could not keep alive, did that in my big tank which was getting too hot for them and there was not enough oxygen in the water. They kept coming up and putting their heads out. Then they died. They also tended to come up when ammonia was present but the heat and lack of oxygen was the main reason for it.
  8. have you checked the tank temp is not going higher than 18 why do you have the temp set for them? My golds just have to put up with whatever the house temp is
  9. You could be right alanmin. The transfer from cold to warm could be causing some sort of fungal issue but it certainly sounds like the new ones are the root of the problem.
  10. did you quarrantine the new ones for a month before adding?
  11. Its alright Jim. I havent received mine either!
  12. LA - were you and Ryan wanting something going down and back again to Auckland?
  13. do you have a diary to remind yourself this month
  14. yes, every one of them what you arent seeing is the vast herds of wilderbeest, elephants etc. The wilderbeest were starting to line up for migration. Those are on video.
  15. You can dare say anything - does pot luck mean you will bring a pot and if we are lucky it will have something in it. Why not! I'll change the heading.
  16. The monthly gathering will be held on Tuesday 14 August, 7.30pm at my place, 26C Mt St John Avenue, Epsom. Everyone is welcome. Please message me to get details on how to find our house. Come along and see first hand the damage a burst tank can do to a lounge! Membership cards for the new financial year can be collected at the meeting. Bring some food for a pot luck dinner!
  17. :rotf: you are such a stirrer :rotf: and to think I always used to believe you and be jealous!
  18. I believe they are no longer coming into the country either.
  19. Hovmoller, I suspect you wont get a lot of answers simply because people dont know them. I imagine this sort of thing is in the 'too hard' basket for most. I would think that the best bet would be to strike up a good relationship with your local fish shop and ask them how things work.
  20. I have to say I strongly disagree with that statement about long fin siamese being prone to diseases and have a short life span. Experience has shown me that they are as hardy and long living as any other fighter.
  21. Can you post another pic of him so I can see what 'raggy' looks like.
  22. Hi Sophia we had quite a bit of trouble similar to what you are describing while we were away. Is it only happening when he uses the ipad or also when he uses the desktop. It may be that he is moving too far away from the modem with the ipad so reception is not good.
  23. hah sheepsnana - it was astounding watching them stripping off the bark and sucking the sap. They stripped the area bare and those trees in the way the big Silverback just walked past and snapped them off at the base. They had actually come over the wall out of the park and those fields behind them in some of the pics are the locals potato fields.
  24. we were away for 12 weeks in all, just over 5 weeks in Africa and then went through some of Europe. I will post a few pics of Europe but not nearly as many as I have done for Africa. All in al I took over 4,000 photos.
