    tadpoles

green frogs are usually quite slow to metamorphise. only feed them meat if they are not eating vege's. you could try them on lettus- my green frog tadpoles love lettuce- just stick it in boiling water for 20 seconds then bag it and put it in the freezer. If their heads are starting to change shape (they are starting to go pointy) then they will not eat as much as their intestine is changing in shape from a long one designed for vegetable metabolism to a short one, for meat eating. You will be able to see when they are about to change into frogs because they will bave small bulges where their front legs are gonna come out...

oh yes forgot to add that it is set up on a chiller/heater system.... they are kept at roughly 19 degrees
  7. a gravel vac is an essential piece of equipment. get one as soon as you can so that your water changes are more effective
  8. the wood will lower the pH but shouldn't harm your fish... if you keep up with water changes you should be sweet
  9. true evil, what are the other dimensions syphonator?
  10. it must have been rigged- it was the first guess!!!!
  11. you would need a bigger tank if you wanted to put more fish in there with him. If you had a six ft tank or similar you could put him with a large pleco.

    ANEMONE

hey mat. at the museum we have a tank full of temperate anenomes. They don't need metal halide, we just have T8 lighting for them. I wouldn't put shrimp in with them unless you want to feed the anenomes. We just have cats eyes (turbo's) in the tank to keep the algae down. Our anenomes are hand fed mussel pieces once a week. (I normally give them 1/8 of a mussel each). In terms of filtration we just have a sump and trickle filter (Wool, bioballs, wool) plus a carbon filter.
  15. if I remember my bio 101 corectly isn't this called co-dominance?
  16. me three. I got a mh off steve, cookie so I'm just waiting on a skimmer and I'll be set. I'll give you a call when I'm sorted and I might grab some of that plate coral and leathers for starters... anyone know if that combo deal of the 2x clowns plus anenome for $200 is still on at hff?
  17. some people say that java fern is ok in brackish but I'm nort sure. I reakon it looks cool when people grow mangroves in tanks, but if you can'd do that, you an make up for it using vines to make a root effect
  18. yes welcome. And ditto everything evil said. I went from having 1 tank to having 10 in the space of 2 months.... Enjoy yourself on the forums-we're all on here for a laugh!!!! and to learn lots of stuff as well of course
  19. hey ashburton- canterbury reefers just making sure you didn't miss out on these deals. Unicorn tang still only $1 no reserve http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listin ... ber=421038

    Betta Ph

hey adodge- what water supply are you on? don't bother about adding pH up to the water, it should be fine as is... betta's would rather have water slightly acidic rather than basic...
  22. in my 250 litre tree frog vivarium, I have just stuck a 10L planter box in gravel. there is a wee little filter in there, but I didn't want to go hard our with a waterfall because of the cost and the work involved. Instead I have opted for more plants.... Over the gravel base I have added fertaliser free pottingmix. On top of that I either have a mix of moss and riverstones. My riverstones were really expensive as they are the ones that are shiny black when dry as well as when wet. I have about 5 species of ferns, as well as a few other plants. For a background I used big pieces of bark and those fern like things that grow on walls etc (similar to kidney ferns- will find out what they are called). I normally water the plants once a day and spray them 2x a day...
  23. hey james- what are you thinking of putting in the palaudium? fauna wise?
