lol you guy know what I mean. If someone had a shrimp they didn't want- i was just lettin them know that I am looking for one. If I couldn't get one from someone who didin't want theirs anymore I would have had to get one for retail price. One kind person has already offered me one though so I am the one laughing now!
Hey does anyone in auckland have a healthy cleaner-shrimp. I really want one but I am not really prepared to fork out $70 for one at the pet-shop if someone has one they don't want. Cheers fella's
i noticed lots of small fry in my wcmm tank this morning. I have floating plants, plants, breeding grass, glosso and java moss in there with them so I'm no help  just do what I did and give them every possible opportunity
yes I agree with what everyone else has written. I was thinking that perhaps also you way want to get some more order in your foliage. Perhaps get some small plastic plants and perhaps some plastic breeding grass and make it so the bigger plants are at the back, smaller ones in front and grass as the forground. just my opinion. Perhaps also more driftwood would also help to make the bottom of the tank look less drab. If you buy more small plants get a quite a few of perhaps 2-3 types so it will look more natural. if you have lots of different colours and types of plasic plants it looks really wierd. So yeah thats my reccomendations- More base cover incl smaller fake plants and driftwood. I like your cave though- and I bet your fishies like it too!
I meant that my hand didn;t reek when I righted him. He has gone small again and is happily sitting at the back on a rock. hopefully he will go swimming again today and find a place he likes where he is more visible though!
Sorry I meant 5%. the anenome is looking ok at the moment thanks guys- he smells a little but i'm not too concerned as he does not show any waro r tear. I am just going to let him float areound the tank as much as he wants until he finds a place he wants... i figure that since i do not have any expensive corals in there he should be fine drifting around. I just get a little concerned when he is sitting upside down on the sand- thats all...
yeah he has a copperhead but he has too much rock to fit in his tank so he leaves the worst stuff out in plastic boxes where he zaps them with kalk etc. I'm sure he will loan you some lol!
ok sounds good. I just tested my water because I was a little afraid. everything is coming up fine except ammonia which is reading 0.25 so I will just do a small water change now i think- prob 15 L. (10%) thanks for your help guys
he is still floating round the tank. he attaches for 5 or ten mins then starts floating again. I have smelt him to see if he is decomposing and he doesnt smell bad... He seems verrry big though- he is fully expanded so that none of his tentacles touch each other. I can see his mouth clearly and it appears normal...
ok I'll try that steve. I was starting to think he had settled in after 48 hours in one place but he has started his acrobatics again. I was about to pm you actually incase you didn't hear my pleas for help! I will try as you say with te food once he has settled down again. what food do you suggest? mussel pieces, frozen food or something different? cheers mate
he also seems to be very puffed up if thats any help. When I say puffed up I meant that his foot and trunk are very wide and seem alot softer than they were if thats any help
hey my bta seems to like jumping of rocks and landing face down(tentacles down!) on the sand. The peculiar thing is that he generally only does it just after my metal halide has powered down in the late afternoon. The rest of the day he seems to be happy sitting in one spot... I am getting really concerned even though I have done alot of reading on the subject. He seemed really happy today and he had wedged his foot right in a crevasse for the last 48 hours with only his tentacles protruding. Have you people got any suggestions- I have tried decreasing the direct flow over him, and increasing the direct flow to no avail. he only seems happy with medium flow however he still like jumpin off the rocks... is he hungry maybe?
oh and krama, he is looking quite white... is that just the aquarium light. he should go darker a he settles in- just lettin you know. (that is of course if you have dark coloured rocks. provide him with plenty of caves. feed him whole mussels and he will pull them apart himself
haha cool thanks skippy. Yep I work at the museum- I'm a live display assistant curator so I care for all the animals and equipment, and make sure everything is presentable  of course that is only my part time job- I'm studying marine biology and environmental science double major at auckland (an awesome combo btw!)
we have an octopus at work. he is in a big tank by himself. he is fed frozen mullet pieces and mussels. he goes crazy over crabs but they are really messy. They require pristine water- and will not live for long if your water is not perfect. They change colour as camoflague and depending on how they are feeling. you want the temp at around 18.5-19.5 degrees. if you have any other questions do not hesitate to ask me. Oh and put in some turbo's to help keep the tank clean(Catseyes), If the anenome stars eating them it is a sign that he is not getting enough to eat.
