  1. yes... check the silicon like zoban said... Oxygen is not vital in planted tank... as the plants will provide oxygen for the fish....
  2. don't think he woulda been killed by the "sawdust" (thats bran by the way- food for the mealworms)... more likely died of gluttony... what many people don't realise is how little frogs need to eat. I feed my small tree frogs which are less than 1cm each 1 or 2 flies a week, while my large green frogs which are 7-9 cm each eat one adult locust each per week.... If you feed frogs too much they will get fat and possibly die.... how big were the mealworms... Also is there a possibility he might have been stuck in the container or does it have a completley open top?
  3. i have that pfk mag and have folloed th recipe also... however i attached it to the top of an elite mini filter--- doesn't do much but i see a few bubbles occasionally... do you just have the end of the air tube sitting in the water with nothingf to disperse it???
  4. been reading--- See http://frogs.org.au/community/viewtopic ... 8a430df792 they thought it was Litoria aurea but apparently not... couldn't find much else to document the prescence of albino populations or L. Aurea or L. raniformis
  5. oh ok.... I was just a bit us because Ihave heard a few stories of peple smuggling fogs into nz then releasing them into ponds and claiming they have found a species of frog previously unknown in nz....
  6. wow crazy- never seen anything in my life like it before- they look almost like golden mantella's... I'm a bit sus though- do you guys reackon they are albino or something else???
  7. hey sorry I couldn't make it guys- I spent the week surfing up north and rushed back to make it in time but the traffic was terrible!!!!
  8. so they will be ok with my silver dollars then? i wanted a jack dempsey and a texas cichlid but since i really want silver dollars I thought twice
  9. I have a list. Please tell me yay or nay wether all these fish will be compatible etc - 2x Festive cichlids (Mesonauta festivum) - 4x Silver dollars (Metynnis argenteus) - 4x red scissortail -5 x zebra loach will all these be fine together?
  10. i have an over under over and I have packed the last area between the under and the over with live rock... If the last over is close enough to the sump water line you won't get a waterfall effect over the last baffle and I have no problems at all with bubbles
  11. well I would like clown loaches but they are a bit out of my price range currently because i am stocking my reef tank too... I don't know how well barbs would do with the big fish and all that open swimming space? Which barbs in particular were you implying?

  13. I'm setting up a new tank once I have cleared the tree frogs out of it... it is 122 long, 60 from lid to base and 38 from front to back. I want to set it up with 4 silver dollars being the main attraction. What other fish do you guys reccoment. I want a really open tank with biggish fish and I want something that goes with this theme... What sharks would fit in the tank. I know bala sharks and silver shatks would get too big. Angels might be goers or kissing gourami. I want cats also- what would you reccomend for this size tank with limited plants? Will a green terror get too big? cheers
  14. i want to know wether oto's are compatible with betta's... the website says no... Also the website doesn't have hatchetfish- are these compatible with betta's?
  15. i believe they would be quite difficult. due to the way barnacles feed on micronutrients washed in by the incoming tide
  16. I was out last night and arrived home this morning to find her dead There were no signs of external damage- no whitespot- nothing... All my other fish are happy and none of them show any of the symptoms. Thanks everyone for their help...
  17. ther is pretty much no way to get her out of the tank. i have been thinking about doing a fw dunk for 5 mins after steve suggested it if she gets any spots or anything but I don't know how I will catch her....
  18. no same lighting. I think he may be getting white-spot but I haven't seen any spots on her yet
  19. I just checked my water and everything seems fine. I checked absolutley everything I have a test for and its all good... dKH - 11.5 pH - 8.4 Ammonia, Nitrates, Nitrites, Phosphates, Copper - all 0 ppm Ca - 400 temp - 26.5 degrees C Anyone got any suggestions?
  20. Hey I have a pink skunk clown which I have had for 2 weeks now... She is breathing rapidly and is hanging out near the bottom of the tank rareley moving around. I can see no evidence of any damage and all the other fish in the tank are fine- including my male pink skunk clown... Will I need to set up a hospital tank or will she be fine? The other fish at the moment are three chromis, a banded goby , a cleaner shrimp and a bta.... thanks for yur help. I have melafix and copramine but am hesitant using them in my main tank. particularly the copramine as it will likeley kill my shrimp and damage my mushrooms...
  21. oh i use Laguna's at work and they don't seem too noisy but the eheim is waaaay quiter
  22. Im using a 1262 to run my skimmer then using a cheap resun king as my return pump. I only have a 3ft tank though
  23. should be better on the floor than the smaller tank if anything IMO. If It is over at least 2 beams it won't cause a sag in the floor and the surface area of the bigger tank sounds like it is waaay bigger so you won't be creating pressure points
