  2. i'm sure someone in on her in wellington will have a phosphate test kit... everyone with reefs will anyway. phosphate readings can be deceptive though because you can have a phosphate reading of 0.0 ppm and still have algae because the algae uses phosphate which is why it is there in the first place. Hope I didn't confuse you!!!
  3. i was about to grab a big one last night and then i remembered that they can sting. this one was brown and it was about 1 cm wide and from what i could see about 15 cm long... he is probably the one nibbling my colt...
  4. i'm a student and so far i think i have spent roughly 4k setting up all my tanks
  5. well i want to keep them with festivum cichlids and gold severums so i'm sure they can't do too much damage to those guys
  6. i just hand fed my puffer earthworm for the first time. i normally hang it on a string and he eats it off that!

  17. I am the only other owner of an arrowhead puffer on FNZAS possibly NZ... I just want to emphasise what fishy-t says- these are a wonderful fish- definatley not the most active species but they are a real talking point I know that as each time my parents have friends round they don't forget to go into my bedroom to show them my puffer (Called Peter) So yeah I would have snapped up mr. Hanky but I had a big talk to fishy-t about breeding him and we decided it was not the best idea as my peter has already eaten his partner (yes there were origionally two) and we don't want to take that kind of risk with such awesome fish! so yeah- A reccomended buy!

I double that it is the venturi making the noise as it sucks air in... disconnect the venturi and see if this helps I have found this to be the case with many filters
