  1. all the tanks at auckland zoo have drains... just get it so you have a decent sized pipe with a nice big tap like the guys with big reef tanks use and you just need to open the tap to drain the water... easy!!!
  2. should be sweet if new- give them a wash

who uses this stuff? I have read about it but have not seen it for sale i am thinking about altering my sump so that it includes a refugium. how much does it cost? and also where would i get macroalgae from if i set up a refugium? I am thinking about having my tank so it goes overflow through filter wool, then it will be skimmed. then it goes through the refugium, through submerged bioballs past the heater then back to the main tank... cheers for your help
  7. welcome- wow an nice selection of fish (an invertebrates!!!)
  8. good stuff man... haha pity they decided to lay on your filter though- make sure the newly emerged fry don't get sucked up!!!
  9. yeah thats what i do... the other one is- I got it for $10- meaning it cost $100... $50 meaning $500 etc

    air pump

what do you want to use it for. some things need more air than others. you can buy aquaone or elite air pumps which have multiple air holes and i have never had any problems with these... the only problem is if you don't want to use all the air holes then you have a nasty hissing sound!
  20. its getting colder though. i was half frozen when i had to get up at 4 to go to work this morning!!! damn polished wooden floors!!!
  21. i have only seen book 3 (the big tanks book!!!!) i need to see the others!
  22. mmmm yummy... you shoulda pulled it out and put it in formaldehyde to preseve it alsn. that woulda been cool!!!!!
  23. wow thats high. i dunno the adverse effects but i do know a fast increase of over 100ppm per day is bad.... have you been using mag supplements obviously? coz kalkwasser etc are usually pretty poor ate supplying mg to the tank
