yes i would agree with Matt that it is black beard algae. We have recently had quite a bit of white beard algae growing in the eel tank at work. Its not bad just unsightly. Best way to get rid of it is manual removal then look at the causes... Lack of water changes? Overfeeding? etc...

that was a palamberg puffer in Chch- no shipping. I have a Arrowhead puffer for sale if you are interested- tank included- no shipping though so you would have to come and get it

feed them whole mussels. they will pull the mussels apart and eat the flesh. otherwise dead fish or even some Turbo snails (He'll suck them out of the shells)

what sort of snails? Shouldn't be too much of a problem, almost everyone on here has snails in their tanks, though if there is only a couple I would remove them as they multiply fast! should be fine to slowly start adding fish now... just a couple to start with- you don't have nitrite test do you?
