Is the tank going to be in a lounge? if its somewhere else then do you mind having the sump on the ground? how tall is the red sea berlin turbo? Another option may be the Aquamedic T1000 or Shorty- I dunno check out the sizes. otherwise go for a hang on mce600 by deltec or similar
  6. I only have 1 - I put 3 in but had to rip 2 out to fit my mega skimmer in

Rubbish... depends what skimmer. Some have a pump attached to circulate the water within the skimmer and are fed water from the tank overflow (direct from display tank) while some have a pump in the sump which pumps water into the sump

    advice please!

RO&DI is different from Tropical (Freshwater), because the chemicals you are adding to your freshwater water is removing the chloride, etc... RO and DI remove silicates, phosphates etc, which are not as big a problem in Freshwater tanks, as you are not trying to replicate such a low-nutrient environment. Phosphates and Silicates cause algae(and lots of it) in a marine tank. Cannister filters are not the best to run, if only want soft corals it will be acceptable but anything else and you will run into troubles. the problem with cannister filters is they convert ammonia to nitrites and nitrites to nitrates, but do not remove the nitrates so this leads to a favorable environment for algae. I have blue lights on 1/2 hour before my halides come on/go off, to try to ease the stress on the fish from the quick change in brightness. I also looks cool in the evenings as alot of SPS and LPS have fascinating colors under the blue light.
  11. I can't see the urchin either.... (BTW- somebody tell me if you see a long spined black urchin for sale please...)
  12. I'm not sure if that brittlestar is the same species as your larger brittlestars dude. There are quite a few smaller species of brittlestars found on live rock
  13. No that will be fine. I'm not sure from that description... my 4fter is almost the same size as yours(my tetra tank) and is on a crappy, non load-bearing floor- all sweet for now. (Touch wood)
