    nice tank

  2. they eat most types of algae. but I actually don't think they would be that good in a RSM on second thoughts because they could run out of algae
  3. It looks so artificial IMO... I would rather have just live rock with lots of pink corralline to those dead corals... they are just so WHITE!
  4. I work at the museum and we have had octpus and morays before. Not difficult to keep at all. The problem with octopus though is that they grow quickly and can reach full maturity in an aquarium in just over a year. they also grow pretty big and can't have anything else in the tank as they will eat them. that becomes a problem when they start eating catseyes as the tank gets messy

    20,000k bulbs

I have had good results with 10K bulbs raeh... good colour and growth... mindyou I do have a blue T8 to get a bit of blue colour too
  6. The Auckland Fishkeepers Meeting is In West Auckland... (Greenbay)
  7. blind cave tetras are like that though... i would go round biting everything I bumped into too if I was a fish with no eyes
  8. looks good. the red pine looks nice
  9. I don't get it reef. I realise the muds cost lots to import so thats why they cost more than if we bought them overseas but comparing between muds 1gallon of caribsea mud costs 21.99USD, while 5pounds of miracle mud costs 49.99USD. I am assuming 1 gallon of mud weighs more than 5 pounds so wouldn't it be cheaper for us to buy the Caribsea mud?
  10. ask other reefers. they will give/sell you snails depending on the species. We can't get hermit crabs unless they are hitchhikers.
  11. from my uneducated eye its a central american cichlid- possibly a flowerhorn?
  12. we can get caribsea aragonite, so can we get mineral mud? it seems to be waaay cheaper than miracle mud
  13. borders is the big book shop by the civic (under IMAX), Alois.
  14. in Auckland you can get them as well as the American equivalent at Boarders
  15. I think that frog leeping is fine as long as you are careful. Chytrid fungus kills frogs and that includes the golden bell frogs themselves. Thus, as long as the tadpoles are sourced from aquariums where frogs have not recently died you should be fine. NEVER RELEASE PET FROGS INTO THE WILD THOUGH!!!
  16. I tried him on ramshorn and they were a little big. he eats ramshorns, and just the normal pond snails too
  17. yes defiantly. he will beg for food but only feed once every couple of days. If you keep up with good quality food and keep the water quality up (Shouldn't be a problem with the fluval 4plus) there is not that much risk of overfeeding him if you only feed once every couple of days
  18. if the foot is fine the nem should bounce back in good quality water
  19. males are typically more colourful too. they have yellow sections on their pectoral fins. give them lots of java moss
