  1. That still does not solve the problem. Ira is going away that day. Someone needs to check the filters are running correctly when power comes back on, or else they could air lock etc etc. Read the thread from beginning to establish the problem before giving yur resolutions.. Sorry.... just annoys me that people have all these wonderful ideas but they are not relative to thread as they have not read whole story!!!!!!! PS. not an attack, just a reminder to read before typing
  2. Im not sure of that filter but i currently using a CF1200 . I find it a great filter for the price.
  3. For tetras or smaller fish yeah. maybe not for cichlids or other big spiny fish. Pays to mention what you intend to ship in the bags. Although in saying that, I have no idea what thickness that is.
  4. Have just bought some dwarf neons with the intention of breeding myself. I found this site useful and very interesting read http://members.optushome.com.au/chelmon/Contents.htm What sort of rainbows you got???
  5. UMMMMMMMM What? can be found on any mountain or farm????????? what you smoking????
  6. What are the plant that you have bought? Alot of the plants will survive for a short time in tropical tank. No they wont kill the fish unless they die in the warmer temps and rot and pollute the tank. A good start would be to ID the plants for us to give an opinion.
  7. I got mine in an old fishtank outside. They dont breed as readily at this time of year unless they have plenty of food. Mine get feed green water, which i grow in another tank that is inside with the lights on 24hrs a day. Also if you are short of green water, they can be fed yeast. Take about 1 cup of water and add half a teaspoon of yeast. stir until it makes a cloudy mixture, then gently pour into tank or container holding daphnia. You only want to add enough so that you can only just see the botton of the tank. feed again once water clears. My fish love them HTH
  8. Bugger! Why are the disconnecting the power Ira?
  9. I dont see any problems with using it. Daltons propergating sand contains pumice nd i have been using that for a few years now. Try it out, and then let us know
  10. Thats Anubias As it grows its roots attach themselves to surfaces. Great aquascaping plant although quite slow growing.

Welcome to the forum. MTS- Dont fight it, go with it
  13. Plecos in the wild have been known to survive out of water.I once saw some pics of a water hole that was drying up with lots of plecos inholes in the bank, most were still alive. So long as they not in sun and are able to stay moist.
  14. Just some pics of my new Pencils In with my Geo's, and as of tonight, now spawning. Im going to set up a breeding tank this week.(damn! Another tank ) Just got t get another heater

  16. Thats what my plans this summer are. I want to set up a tank and slowly lower the water level till the become emersed. Hopefully i can get them to flower. I will prob make up a journal as i do this with pics. P.S Alan, it amazes me at the times of your posts. What the hell you doing up at that hour in the middle of winter. Id rather be wrapped up warm.
  17. Pupuke has my vote. Friendly and inviing is the words i could use to describe my experience. Also great fish and set ups. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Also peter at Wetpets in Palmy. He's great value to the company. I will wait till hes free, just so i can be served by him.
  18. EXACTLY A simple smile or acknoledgment is all that is needed. If they dont know and tell me they dont know, then I respect them for that. If they blatently make something up(as happens in a few stores ive visited) instantly I dont trust that outfit and usually leave and not return.
  19. I manage an appliance retail store. we have , in my opinion, one of the most competitive markets at present. I cant help while im on holiday (out of town as all the local stores know who i am and ignore me anyway) going into competetors store to check out what happening. Usually walk out feeling much better about the service in my store
  20. did you tip vodka into your tank????
  21. You work in retail too? I do, and i find when i go into any shop,i always pick up on the mistakes of retail. Had a similar experiance yesterday at one of the big A stores, Asked the price of some fish that had no price tag, when i came back before my drive home to buy them they tried to tell me that they got it wrong and they were more expensive. I immediately put everything i had in my hands back on shelf and proceeded to leave when they called out and said they will honour that price. So i bought the fish only and left
