    Oscar- "yummy yummy yummy"
  2. Recognise this, Its called a whale shark,Rhincodon typus
  3. Water changes, waterchanes, waterchanges, dont skimp on waterchanges. Once they grow older they are a bit more less demanding, but still require good water quality.temp around 28- 29 degrees celcius Avoid to much bright light, floating plants help them feel secure. When they feel secure they tend to come out of hiding more and become real characters in my experiance. They are awesome fish. Kinda wish i never sold mine no!
  4. Ping pong balls, thai fish, mmmmmmmmmmm connection or coincidence.
  5. Have found some new tankmates for them now. Picked up half dozen nannostomus beckfordi aka golden pencil (which oddly enough, are a feature fish in the latest TFH mag) Since adding them, the geo's seem a it more relaxed. will get some pics soon.
  6. Just demand a refund as the fish were sold in toxic bags. And say that SPCA should know they are poisoning fish. Play them at their own game and hassle them with trivial problems
  7. The one on the right. Does anyone know the type??
  8. If it was me, I'd use two smaller units. That way if one was to fail, all hope is not lost. JMO
  9. Oh sorry David R, wasnt sure what you were sugesting, lol The tank is prob not big enough for them as well, which is a shame as they awsome fish too. you have some heckelii dont you??? any pics???
  10. Cheers Ryan I agree about the display ones at wetpets.I hope mine wil look that good one day.It will be a while though as they are slow growers. Looks like they already have a fan club
  11. These are just adolecents. they look heaps better when their fins grow out and they colour up for breeding Heres a pic off the net
  12. Surinamensis! About 150 litres.
  13. AAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHH Thats what i would be saying. Sorry dude.
  14. Yeah tetras are cool, but i have other tanks full of them and wanted something a bit different. Im a sucker for American fish and the only non american i have is a lone harliquin. Rainbows look cool, also thought maybe some hatchets but they can be a bit uninteresting at times, since all the do is hang at top looking for a gap to jump through, lol. The two WCMM in there will be going asap, they were just the canary in the mineshaft. what to do , what to do?
  15. P.S Does anyone know the type of crypt on the right hand side (with red stems) of pics 3 and 4?
  16. Finally after some very much apreciated help from Afrikan I have my Geos in their new home. Gravel is Daltons Propergating Sand Filtration is Aqua One CF1200 External filter 300watt heater Plants crypt balansae Anubias Nana "petite" Xmas Moss Amazon Sword (Echinodorus Osiris "rubra") Java Fern Another Crypt(type unknowen at present) JBL 7 Balls for fert (one under each plant) Now to decide what other fish to add to tank. I thought maybe some Pencil fish would look good, or rainbows of some sort. Does anyone have either of these that they wanna sell me,lol.
  17. LFS mark up can be dependant on availability and demand. An example of this is angels, small the size of a $2.00 coin sell in the shops here fore about 12 - 15 dollars each, yet while i was in Auckland last week, they were selling for $3.50 each.
  18. Neons are about $3.20 or so here in Wanganui Boxers are the best. I love the crab walk they do when they get excited.

    HRV

HRV and DVS systems do not have any form of dehumidifier in them. Basically they are a fan system with ducting controlled by thermometres and digital keypads. All they do is create positive air pressure which pushes colder damp air out. They dont really work with alloy joinery as unlike wooden window frames are usually airtight. they must have somewhere where the damp cold air can escape and this creates drafts.

    HRV

I have a DVS system which is similar. The pros: No condensation. great for airing the house without the security problems of open windows. The cons:Drafts(cold draughts brrrrrrrrrh) During the summer time if left on the house is like a prssure cooker and stinks of pink batts. Overall they are great to remove condensation, but in my opinion, thats all. By the way, mine does not have the inbuilt heater. HTH
